Ever since Pokemon Sword and Shield's release last year, Nintendo has kept bringing back more beloved Pokemon from previous generations with every update. The latest Isle of Armor DLC continues this trend after previewing some returning favorites at the beginning of 2020. But there are new Galarian forms of iconic Pokemon that can only evolve by finding new items, such as Galarica Twigs.
Galarica Twigs can be gathered and exchanged for a Galarica Cuff from an Isle of Armor NPC. The cuff is needed to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro which sports a different design and Poison/Psychic-Typing. While finding the necessary twigs may seem like a difficult task at first, this guide will detail the best places to look and how to dig up all 8 in no time.
Galarica Twig Locations
In-game, Galarica Twigs are found underneath different trees in the Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, Forest of Focus, Challenge Beach, Loop Lagoon, and the different Sea areas on the Isle of Armor. Like many evolution stones, Galarica Twigs aren't visible in the overworld except for a brief sparkle on the ground every few seconds. While trees are all over the island, their scattered locations and the twigs sharing drops with many other items mean that going to every single place is inefficient especially for trainers with limited play time. Instead, the best location to find Galarica Twigs will be at the Forest of Focus.
Forest of Focus
As its name implies, the main advantage of looking in the Forest of Focus is how many trees are growing in the area. While walking or biking through the area, trainers should be sure to check near the tall trees flanking both sides of the path. After clearing the forest, it also connects directly to Challenge Beach and Soothing Wetlands where more Galarica Twigs may be found. Once an area has been picked clean, the sparkle and random items won't respawn until midnight local time according to the trainer's Switch.
Changing the Switch Date
However, trainers that want to drastically speed up the process of collecting Galarica Twigs can opt to change the date on the Switch and bypass the wait time on respawns. From the Switch HOME Menu, select System Settings before scrolling down to System then Date and Time. Afterwards, fast forward one day and resume playing. If it worked, there should be a small stutter or glitch on-screen and all the items underneath trees should be refreshed. On YouTube, Vergel520 posted a video on how to perform the trick.
Although digging up enough Galarica Twigs will take some effort, the end result is worth it for Sword and Shield trainers. Galarian Slowbro is a powerhouse whose signature ability Quick Draw lets it move first occasionally. And with the Crown Tundra arriving later this year, there's a good chance other Pokemon or their Galarian versions will evolve using rare items found in a similar way.
