Pokemon Home is a new app that lets players store and trade Pokemon from past generations to Pokemon Sword and Shield. The introduction of Pokemon Home also saw some brand new Pokemon become available in Pokemon Sword and Shield, making the new games' Pokedex a little more complete. Upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield expansions are set to add even more Pokemon to the games, including some brand new creatures, and one may have leaked ahead of time thanks to Pokemon Home.

Dataminer mattyoukhana_ on Twitter was digging through the Pokemon Home sound directory when they found a cry similar to that of Gen 1 Pokemon Jynx. They described the Jynx-like cry as similar to a Mega Evolution Pokemon, but the more likely scenario is that this is the cry of the unannounced Galarian Jynx. Assuming this theory is correct, it seems likely that Galarian Jynx will debut in either the Isle of Armor or Crown Tundra expansion packs.

As far as Galarian Pokemon go, it perhaps makes more sense to make a Galarian Jynx than it does any other Gen 1 Pokemon. The original design for Jynx was one of Pokemon's biggest controversies at the time, with many accusing it of being racist. By creating a brand new version of Jynx, The Pokemon Company can try to shake off some of the stigma that still surrounds the Pokemon.

It's also possible that this cry is for a completely different Pokemon, like maybe the new mythical Pokemon that's set to be revealed in the upcoming Pokemon animated movie. Alternatively, it could be a cry for a Pokemon that was scrapped during development. However, the most likely scenario still seems to be that the cry is for a Galarian Jynx, though fans won't be sure until Game Freak, Nintendo, or The Pokemon Company share more information.

If this supposed Galarian Jynx is coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield, one has to wonder if it will be with the Isle of Armor expansion or Crown Tundra. If Galarian Jynx is coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield as part of the Isle of Armor expansion, then that means it will be added to the game in June. Otherwise, Pokemon Sword and Shield players would have to wait until the end of the year for the Crown Tundra expansion to find out more.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
