The Crown Tundra DLC for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield has officially made its way to the Nintendo Switch and Pokemon trainers everywhere are working hard to add the new roster of Pokemon to their collection. While plenty of the new Pokemon can be found in the wild, the Legendary Pokemon have a bit more fans will need to do in order to find them.

The Legendary Birds of Kanto; Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, have made their way back to the world of Pokemon, but not in their original forms. All three birds have a Galarian variant that differs vastly from when they made their debut in Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue.

To get things started, fans will need to trigger a certain event in order to even begin to find the Legendary Birds. Once trainers have made their entry to the Crown Tundra, they'll notice a large, pink tree in the south called the Dyna Hill Tree. Approaching this tree will trigger a cut-scene where fans are treated to a fight between the birds before all three take flight to their respective zones where players can then embark on a journey to catch them.

Articuno will be the closest to the Dyna Hill Tree, ending up in the Crown Tundra's main Wild Area. Make a beeline south from Frostpoint Field to enter the Crown Tundra's Main Area and bike around until Galarian Articuno has been spotted. Unlike the other two Legendary Birds, Galarian Articuno will use his Psychic powers to create copies of himself to trick the player into chasing after the wrong one. One strategy is to make use of the bike's bell until the real Articuno engages in battle. If Articuno starts to flee, simply repeat these steps until the battle begins.

Simply toss Ultra Balls and Articuno will be added to the player's party or box depending on how much room is available. After that, fans only need to catch the other two to have a complete collection of all three Legendary Birds of Galar.

Witnessing the return of the Legendary Birds is a huge treat to fans of the original games and harkens back to a time when these Pokemon were rumored about on the playground. While catching them is much easier, getting to see their new forms on a big screen is a much welcome addition to Sword and Shield.

The Crown Tundra DLC is available now on Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
