Changing how certain pokemon evolve has been a relatively common feature when the Pokemon franchise moves to a new generation. This began in the transition between Generation 1 and Generation 2, where players could only obtain fully-evolved Steel-type pokemon like Scizor and Steelix by trading them while they are holding a Metal Coat item.

In the most recent games of the main series, Pokemon Sword & Shield, Generation 8 of the long-lived franchise came with a couple of new evolutionary changes. One of them is now, instead of needing to level up this Bug and Electric-type pocket monster in a special magnetic field as in Pokemon Sun & Moon, players will need to evolve Charjabug with the help of a specific item.

Put simply, players will need to use a Thunder Stone in order to evolve Charjabug in Generation 8. This is a great change, as having to level them up in a specific area was annoying and tedious, as it always is when trying to evolve a pokemon via leveling up. Some of the reasons why this is disliked by many are that most players would rather farm wild pokemon in areas that yield greater Exp or wish to allow Charjabug to gain specific Effort Values (EVs).

Another nice thing about this change is that players don't have to guess or time when to evolve their Charjabug, as the mechanics revolving around its previous evolution method were always obscure at best. Utilizing a Thunder Stone gives trainers a lot more control when thinking about ascending Charjabug into a Vikavolt, which is ideal for letting gamers level up Charjabug until they learn specific moves before evolving them.

By the northernmost stone in this area, players will have a 33% chance to find a Thunder Stone every day. Thankfully, since this chance occurs on a daily basis, it should not take too long to find the desired evolution item if one is patient. It is also worth mentioning that the other stones hold the same possibilities for other evolution items. Here's a list of all the acquirable items located near the vertical rocks of the Lake of Outrage:

  • Dawnstone - south stone
  • Ice Stone - southwest stone
  • Leaf Stone - west stone
  • Water Stone - northwest stone
  • Thunder Stone - north stone
  • Fire Stone - northeast stone
  • Dusk Stone - east stone
  • Shiny Stone - southeast stone

Where To Find Thunder Stones In Bridge Field

The Digging Duo located in Bridge Field are the NPCs players should meet up with to potentially gain Thunder Stones, as well as other rare items. Trainers should speak with the Stamina Brother, as he is the only one out of the two with a chance to dig up a Thunder Stone.
