The Galar region is one of the most visually impressive and diverse regions the Pokemon franchise has to offer. Taking influence from the United Kingdom, the region certainly feels unique when compared to those from previous generations. There are plenty of aspects of Galar which make it stick out, but one thing that really makes the region stand out are its various cities and towns.

Each one seems to have its own culture and community, with the minute differences and details in each one embodying something distinctive about it. Despite their size, most cities and towns in Galar have pretty a small number of inhabitants. Here’s how they all rank according to their population.

12 Postwick – Population: 5

As one would’ve guessed, the starter town is the smallest in the whole region. Serving as the main character’s hometown, Postwick plays the role of the idyllic small town placing you right where you need to be to start your adventure. It isn’t shown to have many inhabitants, with an official population of 5.

11 Freezington – Population: 9

A part of the Crown Tundra expansion, Freezington doesn’t boast that high of a population. With its frigid temperatures no doubt playing a part in its low number of occupants, Freezington is a fairly secluded town. Its lack of resources and populace makes it one of the smallest in all the games.

10 Spikemuth – Population: 29

Notable for being the home of Team Yell and rival character Marnie, Spikemuth has one of the more unique looks of any town in Galar. With its grimy aesthetic, Spikemuth certainly fits in well with its Dark-type Gym. It was the second smallest town in the game prior to the addition of Freezington.

9 Wedgehurst – Population: 31

Connecting Routs 1&2, Wedgehurst has everything players can possibly need to aid them early on in their journey. A Poke Mart, Pokemon Center, Berry Shop and Boutique should give players all the options they need before continuing on their journey. The Pokemon Research Lab stands out as its most notable landmark.

8 Ballonlea – Population: 31

Ballonela might have the same population as Wedgehurst, but it certainly stands out with its vibrant neon lighting and mysterious atmosphere. Notable for being home to the Ballonela Gym, the area is a haven for Fairy-types.

Located deep in the forest, the town is noteworthy for its secluded environment and the glowing mushrooms that surround it.

7 Turrfield – Population: 36

Containing the first Gym players can challenge, Turrfield is a naturists dream. With sprawling green fields and mountains, Turrfield is one of the best looking towns in the game. With the massive Turrfield Gym serving as a landmark, players won’t miss this location.

6 Stow-on-Side – Population: 44

Stow-on-Side has one of the more unique environments in all of Galar, and is most notable for being home to either Bea or Allister’s gym. Found deep within the mountains, the town boasts a fairly decent population and is home to an ancient mural which serves as its greatest landmark.

5 Hulbury – Population: 54

Home to Nessa and her gym, Hullbury is Galar’s only seaside town and has some incredible scenery as a result. The town is also home to important landmarks such as Hulbury Station, a Herb Shop and Incense Merchant.

The famous Captain’s table restaurant brings in visitors from all over Galar, and the player can complete various deliveries for the owner after they’re crowned Champion.

4 Circhester – Population: 97

As large as it is cold, Circhester was Galar’s most frigid region prior to the introduction of Freezington. Another city with varying gym leaders, Circherster Gym is led by either Gordie or Melony. Despite its weather, Circhester has one of Galar’s highest populations. The various landmarks, such as the Hero’s Bath, Hotel Ionia and Bob’s Your Uncle restaurant make it one of the liveliest areas in the region.

3 Hammerlocke – Population: 102

Hammerlocke is home to a number of important locations, and also has some of the most visually appealing architecture in the entire region. Raihan’s Hammerlocke Gym serves as one of the player’s greatest challenges on their journey and serves as a staple landmark in the city.

A move tutor, salon, friendship rater, battle café and the Hammerlocke Station round off some of the many places of interest found in the town. It’s one of the few Galarian regions with a population that surpasses 100.

2 Motostoke – Population: 120

Called “Engine City” in the Japanese version, Motostoke is one of Galar’s most notable cities, serving as the home of Kabu’s Motostoke Gym.  The city is spolit into two tiers, with the upper tier serving as home to the gym, a Pokemon center and the Budew Drop Inn and the lower tier having a boutique, battle café and uniform shop.

1 Wyndon – Population: 157

Standing as Galar’s most populated city, Wyndon doesn’t share a lot of the qualities of other towns and cities in the region. Its lack of a gym might seem strange, but it makes up for that in size and with the various places of interest available to the player. It’s most notable for being host to the Champion Cup tournament.
