Eager Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield gamers will soon be able to get their hands on some mythical Pokemon through distribution events this month. As players await the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it's a chance to add some powerful Pokemon to a player's team, for those who are active in the competitive scene and for gamers who prefer to simply catch them all.

Before the newest entries are even released, a recent leak revealed that 27 Pokemon could still be missing from Switch-based Pokemon games. In the months leading up to Generation 9's release, Nintendo has been stepping up the hype recently, such as sharing more trailers and revealing features unique to Scarlet and Violet. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield may have come out in 2019, but gamers haven't given up on them. The popularity of Generation 8 remains, and these recent distribution events show Nintendo hasn't forgotten about it either.

Pokemon fans can get Genesect, Volcanion, and Marshadow from this particular giveaway. This pair of specific distribution events already took place in Europe last month. Unfortunately, GameStop still seems to have financial issues, having just closed more European locations. The event is now hitting North America, Australia, and New Zealand. For those in the United States and Canada, gamers can head to local GameStop locations for a code for part one, which runs from October 16 - 29. The other two countries included in the distribution event will need to go to JB-Hi-FI from October 21 - November 18. Part two in North America runs from October 30th - November 12th, while Australia and New Zealand can grab Marshadow between October 21 - November 18.

Genesect, a Bug and Dark-type Pokemon, first appeared in Generation 5. Volcanion, the Fire and Water type Mythical Pokemon, made its debut during Generation 6, with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. The last rare Pokemon gamers can obtain during this special limited-time event, Marshadow, is a Fighting and Ghost type Mythical Pokemon that was first available back during Generation 7 in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. It was the last Pokemon to be included in the Alola Pokedex before the Ultra Sun and Moon expansions were released. Although all these past titles came out a few years ago, fans are finding creative ways to alter other Pokemon games, such as a recent mod for Pokemon Legends Arceus.

While there may be a good chunk of time for fans to snag a code at the participating retailers, supplies won't last long. Gamers are encouraged to head to their local store as soon as they can and avoid those who may try to snag them all for profit. Other companies, such as McDonalds UK had to limit Pokemon Happy Meal sales because of widespread scalping. One thing is crystal clear: if Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield can continue to get distribution events years after release, fans can expect the same for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
