Pokemon Sword and Shield is experiencing one leak after the other, with the full evolution lines of Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble recently appearing online. Following the starters, new galarian forms, Gigantamax forms, and more, Zacian and Zamazenta have also now leaked. Specifically, it seems that each legendary will have two forms: one without a weapon and one with a weapon.

Zacian's leaked online first to a bit of a surprise. The Pokemon Sword legendary's base form is a Fairy type, whereas Pokemon Shield's legendary's base form is a Fighting type. There's some lore that states these wolves can absorb metal, which Zacian forges into a Sword and Zamazenta makes into a shield, which also gives them their second form. This is the forms that players have seen in previous footage, and it gives each of them a secondary type: Steel.

Zacian and Zamazenta are reportedly in some type of overarching battle against Eternatus, the also-leaked 'evil' legendary. According to leaks, it also seems that Eternatus has two forms as well as a G-max form (though this itself isn't that concrete), and it has a Poison/Dragon-typing. This implies a strange dynamic between the trio. With Zacian and Zamazenta's steel typing, Eternatus' poison attacks will have no effect on them.

On the flip side, Zacian will have a type advantage over Eternatus, as Fairy is one of Dragon's few weaknesses. Zamazenta's Fighting type, though, offers nothing to the dynamic, but at the very least, it still has the Steel-type resistance. As it stands, fans will just need to wait to see how this dynamic and story plays out, especially in regards to how the multitude of forms come into play. Perhaps this will be revealed in leaks to come, but regardless, this may not have a huge influence on whether fans pick up Pokemon Sword or Shield.

For fans of the franchise stuck on which version to pick up, it's worth mentioning that there's a Pokemon Sword and Shield gold steelbook double pack available at Target within the United States. With this, it's easy to make that decision and just pick up both of them to also get hands on the version exclusive Pokemon, such as Galarian Farfetch'd and Galarian Rapidash.

Pokemon Sword and Shield release November 15, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
