Pokemon Sword and Shield were officially unveiled just this past week, but it appears that the games were actually leaked ahead of time. In a since-deleted 4chan post that was made before the games were announced, a leaker seems to have revealed some new information about Pokemon Sword and Shield, including a new feature called Armored Evolutions.

Presumably, Armored Evolutions will be a new type of evolution in Pokemon Sword and Shield, not unlike Mega Evolutions. What these Armored Pokemon will look like remains to be seen, but the leak did reveal some of the Pokemon that will have Armored Evolutions in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Assuming the post is to be believed, Pokemon Sword and Shield will include Armored Charizard, Armored Mewtwo, Armored Flygon, and Armored Zeraora.

Typically a random 4chan post wouldn't be considered credible, but the post included other details about Pokemon Sword and Shield that have since been confirmed by Nintendo. For example, the post claimed that the games would be set in a region inspired by Great Britain, and as we can tell by the first trailer, that is certainly true for the Galar Region. Furthermore, the post accurately predicted that the games would be called Sword and Shield.

While this could still be nothing more than a lucky guess, Armored Evolutions fit with the theme of Pokemon Sword and Shield, making it easier to believe. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't reveal anything about Armored Evolutions in the Pokemon Sword and Shield reveal trailer, and in fact mostly just focused on the new region and the new starter Pokemon.

The first trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced the world to Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. We have no idea what their evolutions will look like at this point, but it's possible that the starter Pokemon will have Armored Evolutions as well. Alternatively, Game Freak may just give Armored Evolutions to older Pokemon instead to make them more exciting in the new games.

While we must still caution that this leak could be false, if it is accurate, fans should find out in the coming months, as Pokemon Sword and Shield are expected to release this coming holiday season.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will launch later this year, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
