Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are two of the fastest selling Nintendo Switch titles so far. In spite of having some bad press due to some glitches and rumors that the game has been corrupting Switch SD cards, it has also broken sales records according to Nintendo.
Players all over the world are discovering or rediscovering how satisfying it can be to catch 'em all in this beautiful new version of the Pokemon World. In the effort to fill out their Pokedexes, many fans have been on the hunt for the rarest of all Pokemon: the Legendary duo Zacian and Zamazenta.
Zacian and Zamazenta
The storied Zacian and Zamazenta are Warrior Type Legendary Pokemon from Generation 8 (both with a very confusing and interesting Pokemon backstory). Zacian is a Fairy and Steel type Pokemon, distinguishable by the massive sword in its jaws; he is the Legendary for Pokemon Sword. Zamazenta is a Fighting and Steel type Pokemon, the title Legendary for Shield. This Pokemon's mane looks like a massive shield.
Along with the Gigantimax Pokemon, like Gigantimax Meowth and Eevee, these are the most sought after Pokemon in the game.
How to Catch Them
Pokemon Sword and Shield made massive changes to the way trainers catch Legendary Pokemon. In these games, Zacian and Zamazenta can't be caught until postgame content. So trainers will first have to beat the game to be able to pick up either of these Legendaries. After the end of the game, trainers will show up back in their home, where the game began. Players will get a Master Ball, then Professor Magnolia will take them along with Hop.
Hop will challenge the player to a duel in the Slumbering Weald. After this battle is complete, players will meet two brothers, who have some history to share. After they tell their story, players will have to battle the two brothers. Although players will regain the item they used during the Eternatus battle, Hop will lose the other item to the brothers, forcing the player to chase the two brothers across the map. Once this chase quest chain is complete, however, players will finally get to battle their Legendary.
Players will fight Zacian if they purchased Shield or Zamazenta if they own Sword. While this might seem backward, players have to fight the title Legendary from the opposite game than they are playing before they can actually capture their title Legendary. Once defeated, the title Legendary Pokemon will finally no longer be under the influence of the two brother characters, and players will be able to catch it.
In spite of the fact that many fans (especially on Reddit) were furious about Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield before they came out, these seem to be some of the most popular games of the franchise.
