Pokemon Sword and Shield features the return of many fan-favorites from previous generations. In this new region, however, catching some of those familiar faces won't be as straightforward as before. Generation 8 introduces the Galarian version of Mr. Mime and its new evolution, Mr. Rime. At the same time, the pre-evolution Mime Jr. also returns to the stage, but will require a little more work to obtain.

Mime Jr. is a dual Psychic/Fairy type that was introduced in Generation 4, the Sinnoh region, as the baby Pokemon in the Mr. Mime evolutionary line. Fast forward to the Galar region and Mime Jr. cannot be caught in the wild, only through breeding. However, to guarantee a Mime Jr. hatches from the egg, trainers will need to breed a Mr. Mime holding an Odd Incense.

Catching Mr. Mime

For starters, trainers will need to catch their own Mr. Mime before thinking about breeding. The best place to find Mr. Mime is on Route 10 through an Overworld encounter. Note that Mr. Mime has a 30% chance to spawn in the Overworld and will be Level 45-48, so bring an appropriate-level Pokemon and keep looking around. Alternatively, Mr. Mime can also be found in the Lake of Outrage section of the Wild Area through an random encounter in the grass, but only in snowy weather. Here, the Mime Pokemon has a 13% chance to be battled and will be Level 50-52. Furthermore, in the Lake of Outrage, trainers can also acquire a Ditto that can be bred with most Pokemon including Mr. Mime.

Obtaining Odd Incense

After catching a Mr. Mime, trainers will travel to Hulburry. A blonde woman in front of the Herb Shop will be selling many types of incense including the Odd Incense needed. After arriving in town, head to the right from the Pokemon Center, down the flight of stairs, and the vendor will be right there. Note that the Odd Incense will cost two thousand Pokedollars to buy.

Finally, trainers in Pokemon Sword and Shield will need to bring their Mr. Mime holding the Odd Incense along with another Pokemon, preferably a Mr. Mime or Ditto, to the nursery on Route 5 or the Bridge Field section of the Wild Area. Afterwards, trainers should keep biking around and checking the nursery until they receive an egg and then again until the egg hatches. If the steps were followed correctly, congratulations on getting Mime Jr!

In the end, Pokemon Sword and Shield brings back many older Pokemon from previous generations and has made catching them all a more immersive experience.
