Pokemon Sword and Shield's The Isle of Armor DLC sees many Pokemon from previous generations added to these most recent installments. One of these returning Pokemon is Rockruff, a creature that first appeared in the Alola region, and indeed it can be evolved into a Lycanroc of three different forms. Those are the Midday, Midnight, and Dusk Form Lycanroc, and this guide covers how to evolve Rockruff into all of them.

As the names of the forms suggest, the different evolutions of Rockruff in Pokemon Sword and Shield are accessed by performing the transformations at certain times of the day. More specifically, Rockruff will evolve into a Midday Lycanroc if it reaches level 25 or above during the day, and it will evolve into Midnight Lycanroc if it reaches level 25 or above during the night. Things get a bit more complicated when it comes to obtaining a Dusk Form Lycanroc, though, as players must be more precise with the Rockruff that they start with and when they evolve it.

Indeed, fans will need to obtain a Rockruff with Own Tempo and then evolve it between the hours of 7pm and 8pm in order to get a Dusk Form Lycanroc. Notably, this timing is slightly different from what it was in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which may cause some confusion for veteran players. That said, fans that want a Dusk Form Lycanroc can simply bypass the whole evolution process if they so wish, because this Pokemon can actually be found in Pokemon Sword and Shield's raid battles.

Fans that would prefer to obtain their Dusk Form Lycanroc in this manner are advised to be on the lookout for a purple beam den near the Tower of Darkness, which they are sure to encounter during their time with The Isle of Armor DLC. While this may not be quite as satisfying as actually evolving a Dusk Form Lycanroc, it is likely to be much easier than obtaining an Own Tempo Rockruff.

Once a player has received their desired Lycanrocs, they can then move on to pursuing some of the other new evolutions that were just added to the games. For instance, it is now possible to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Slowbro in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and there are sure to be many other desirable evolutions in The Isle of Armor.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
