There are a myriad of different Pokemon Sword and Shield uniforms that players can earn by completing Gym Challenges and visiting the games' shops. These uniforms can all be worn when navigating through the Pokemon Sword and Shield overworld, and players can easily switch between the uniforms that they own at one of the changing rooms found in various clothing stores. However, some fans may be more interested in changing the uniform that they wear into a gym battle, and this guide look to address exactly that.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change a Pokemon Sword and Shield uniform for gym battles, and the default, white uniform must be worn during Gym Challenges. Indeed, this may come as a disappointment to some fans, especially those that have already spent their hard-earned Pokemon Dollars to purchase uniforms at a clothing shop, as the games' feature a variety of unique uniforms that would be fun to wear when facing off against Pokemon Sword and Shield's gym leaders.

Instead, players will simply have to be content with only having access to different uniforms in Pokemon Sword and Shield's Wild Area and towns. While this may not be as exciting as wearing them into a Gym Challenge, uniforms at least provide an opportunity for fans to expand their wardrobes and further customize their characters. For those that grow tired of the standard garb that they receive at the beginning of Pokemon Sword and Shield, uniforms may be just what the doctor ordered.

Of course, the inability to change uniforms for gym battles in Pokemon Sword and Shield is not the only thing that is leaving some fans frustrated. For example, Game Freak has been catching a great deal of flak for removing the National Pokedex for Pokemon Sword and Shield, and the developer has also been under fire for the state of the Pokemon models that were used in these new Switch exclusives.

Ultimately, these issues have led to a Pokemon Sword and Shield review bomb that occurred on Metacritic just after the games released, and not being able to wear a different uniform for Gym Challenges may seem relatively minor when compared to these larger problems. Even still, this may feel like a bit of an oversight to some players, but hopefully it will not detract too greatly from their enjoyment of the games.
