Through a recent expansion, one of the classic Pokemon starters is now available for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Thanks to the Isle of Armor expansion, released on June 17 for Pokemon Sword and Shield, Bulbasaur has been made directly accessible for players for both games through Honey at the Dojo.

In order to catch Bulbasaur, all players have to do is follow the story mode for the DLC. The story takes players through the Master Dojo, and players are tasked to capture three Galarian Slowpokes. Once the players retrieve all the Slowpokes, they will be rewarded with the option of choosing a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle as their reward.

Just like in the older games, Bulbasaur will naturally evolve into a Venusaur through level grinding. Players can expect their Bulbasaur to evolve into Ivysaur at level 16, then continue to level 36 for a Venusaur. For players interested in a quick solution to leveling up their Bulbasaur through EV training, there are methods to make this process much smoother.

If players aren't in the mood to level grind, there are other possible ways to find Venusaur. Through encounters in both the Max Raids and Gigantamax Raids in the Lowlands region and the Forest of Focus, players will get multiple attempts to capture Venasaur. All of these locations can be found on the new map.

Players can expect to enjoy a new Gigantamax from and move set to accompany Venusaur for the game. If players take their Venusaur to Move Tutors, they can teach Venusaur a variety of moves such as Frenzy Plant with a special hit value of 150, Terrain Pulse which power varies from different terrains, and Grass Pledge which is a move that increases Venusaur's power against the similar Water Pledge move.

Many fans of the series have found the expansion fun with all the enjoyable tasks from NPCs to do, others found some aspects of Isle of Armor to be tedious and extremely time-consuming. There are definitely pros and cons for Isle of Armor, but hopefully, the addition of Bulbasaur can make players adventures enjoyable for the price of $29.99. At least players can always have fun walking side by side with their favorite pokemon
