Speculation for the Nintendo Switch Pokemon game has been rampant since it was originally announced. Now, thanks to PokeSirena, gossip concerning some of the features for the next Pokemon game has been translated from its Chinese sources, bringing forth more details for conjecture; however, this is only hearsay and rumor. None of this is confirmed as of this writing.

Originally, the eventual release for this game had a wide window of “2018 or later.” It has since been narrowed to December or early 2019. Moreover, the region in the new Pokemon game is reportedly inspired by Spain or Italy, and the Chinese localization team has already finished translating the game's script for their region. This may mean the game is nearing the end of its development cycle.

Allegedly, the main story deals with “the conflict between tradition and innovation.” This notion seems to relate to the move from the traditional Pokemon handheld games to the new generation arriving on the Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, while it is rumored that there will be no new Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves may return and may be activated by motion control through the Joy-Cons, which is a benefit of the Switch’s hardware.

Pokemon Star Nintendo Switch rumors

Another rumored detail of the game suggests it will include a new battle system comparable with that of Digimon World and Pokken Tournament. This could mean gamers see blocking or some rock-paper-scissors style combat appears in the game. All of these rumored features seem to support the theme of tradition and innovation, with Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon serving as a chance for younger staff to develop their skills.

While these rumors sound highly innovative for the series, they are still just rumors at this time and should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Although these rumors come from a reliable source that knew of Rainbow Rocket beforehand, it will most likely be a couple of months before anything official is heard from Game Freak.
