The Pokemon franchise has been releasing games since 1996, with the series quickly taking off and continuing to sell millions of copies with each new installment. With a new Pokemon game being released almost every year for 25 years, it’s no surprise the franchise is full of odd and obscure facts that the average player wouldn’t come across.

Gamesradar first took note of the Reddit user by the name of Mx_Toniy_4869, who started posting random and obscure Pokemon facts back in December of 2020. The facts are truly strange, with many of them pointing out information that, although interesting at times, seems to result from a variety of different coding issues and inconsistencies between different Pokemon games.

Of course, there are many other Pokemon facts that don’t fall into either of the above-mentioned categories. Such facts as the number of unused type combinations, for example, is a random Pokemon fact that requires a shrewd eye. For those that are interested in these obscure nuggets of information, Mx_Toniy_4869 has many more to share.

Although not all particularly eye-opening in any way, Pokemon fans that have followed the franchise throughout the years are sure to on more than one occasion think “interesting” as they read through the obscure facts. For more casual Pokemon fans that have only picked up a few of the games, it's possible most of these facts won't make much sense in the end. The Pokemon facts surprisingly require a fair amount of research and cross-checking between the different titles, as some of them made general statements about a Pokemon which couldn't have been made unless checked in each installment.

Because of how random some of the Pokemon facts are, one has to imagine that some of these behaviors in the games are accidental. Take Pokemon evolutions, for example. According to fact 213 from Mx_Toniy_4869, no Pokemon gains the normal or bug type when they evolve, and no middle-stage Pokemon is a pure ground or pure dark type. It’s random and obscure, ultimately not meaning much in the end, and there doesn’t seem to be any particular reason as to why these Pokemon types work this way, but it’s very intriguing.

The amount of strange and obscure facts that are listed is quite impressive, too. While Pokemon games have been around for more 25 years now, this fan has clearly kept up with all of them. With new games on the horizon, it’ll be interesting to see if the upcoming titles have any oddities in them that would make for some fun and interesting facts. These Pokemon details are most likely not going to interest those that aren’t already familiar with the Pokemon franchise, but for those that are, more than 200 of them are currently up on Reddit to enjoy.
