A new distribution event is now live for Pokemon fans, this time for the Third Generation legendaries Groudon and Kyogre. This distribution is for Pokemon Sun, Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Ultra Sun, and Pokemon Ultra Moon, and runs until August 26 through local GameStop stores.

Players can redeem the codes given by GameStop by opening up any version of Pokemon Sun and Moon and heading to the Mystery Gift option. Once there, players will want to click Receive Gift and Get with Code/Password. From there, players will be prompted to connect to the Internet and redeem their code. Once players have successfully entered their code, the legendary elemental Pokemon will be waiting for players to pick up and take into battle while waiting for the next installment in the Pokemon franchise.

Pokemon Sun Moon Groudon Kyogre Distribution Event

This event is part of the Year of Legendary Pokemon event, where the games are giving out a set of legendary Pokemon every month throughout 2018. Last month’s giveaway was Tornadus and Thundurus, two-thirds of the Forces of Nature trio from Pokemon Black and White. September’s giveaway is the iconic duo Latios and Latias from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. October will feature Zekrom and Reshiram from Pokemon Black and White, and November will feature Ho-Oh and Lugia from Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Groudon and Kyogre are part of the legendary weather trio from the third generation of Pokemon. While players will not be able to encounter Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eeve e, there are still several fun legendaries from the first generation to find across the Kanto region.

It’s great to see The Pokemon Company still supporting the core Pokemon RPGs, even after the release of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. While hardcore Pokemon players will be waiting a while for another core RPG installment on Switch, at least they’ll have some help from The Pokemon Company for rounding out their Pokedex in the meantime.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are available now for Nintendo 3DS.
