With the success of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX with old and new players, the odds of other classic Pokemon spin off titles getting remade seems to be higher. Throughout the years, there have been many different spin off titles, but some of the ones that have been untouched for years are still very fondly remembered by fans.

Not even considering Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX, the spinoff game, Pokemon GO also remains extremely popular among long-term Pokemon fans and other players alike. The Pokemon series as a whole is popular enough that many players will at least try out any game with the name somewhere in the title. However, many of these spin off games are in fact, very good games that could benefit from a modern retouch.

Pokemon Ranger

Pokemon Ranger is a series of Pokemon spin off titles with three games in total. The first was released back in 2006 for the original Nintendo DS and the final game was also released for the Nintendo DS in 2010.

This series had players not play as Pokemon trainers, but rather members of an organization that temporarily utilizes wild Pokemon to help with natural disasters and other problems affecting the world. They usually only actually own one Pokemon that serves as their partner.

Gameplay in these games had players rapidly drawing circles around Pokemon on the touch screen to subdue them and calm them down so they could be used for assistance. Captured Pokemon could be used for their abilities in the overworld to help deal with puzzles or be used to aid in the capture of other Pokemon.

While the Switch does have a touch screen, limiting the game to being undocked only for a possible remake wouldn't be wise. It could be possible to rework the title to become a motion control based game with the Switch's advanced rumble and motion sensing. Either way, a brand new title in the series or a remake would probably be well received by fans.

Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness

What fans probably want to be remade the most now that the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games have been remade are Pokemon Colosseum and its sequel, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.

These games take place in the Orre region, which is a gritty and crime-filled region mostly made of deserts. The Orre region is modeled after the state of Arizona with most of the inspiration coming from Phoenix, Arizona. Due to wild Pokemon being extremely rare in the region, most trainers have their Pokemon imported from outside regions or buy them illegally from various criminals.

Due to the darker atmosphere and it being the origin of the shadow Pokemon that can also be seen in Pokemon GO, many fans have latched onto these games. The ability to play as an adult protagonist with a criminal background also creates a unique experience, unlike any other Pokemon game.

Additionally, due to the lack of wild Pokemon, the majority of players' Pokemon in this title come from directly stealing shadow Pokemon from other trainers so that they can be purified. This limits the number of possible party members that can help players on their adventure, but also allows for different strategies and players to use Pokemon on their teams that they wouldn't normally use.

Not too much would have to be changed outside of a graphical update for a Switch remake, but plenty of quality of life changes could also go a long way. Thanks to Pokemon Sword and Shield, there is no need for the game's other mode that allows mainline game players to hook up their systems to the console so that they can have a battle in 3D. However, it could be possible to be able to link it to Pokemon Sword and Shield save data for other reasons.

Pokemon Stadium('s Mini-Games)

Like mentioned before, there really isn't a point in having part of a game devoted to being able to experience having a Pokemon battle with players' trusted parties anymore due to the advancements in technology. However, like with Pokemon Colosseum, there is a part of the Pokemon Stadium games that many fans still boot up their Nintendo 64s to play again with their friends. These are the mini-games available in these titles.

Between Pokemon Stadium 1 and Pokemon Stadium 2, there are 22 mini-games. These can all be played with up to four players and computer players that can fill up missing spots, except for a one player quiz game.

While some players may not want to buy these on their own, if these mini-games were to fill the empty GBA link spot in a remake of Pokemon Colosseum, they would be a very welcome addition for players. This would also benefit the Switch's ability to be taken and played with anywhere, as players can quickly play mini-games when seeing friends without the need to switch to another game.

These mini-games could also come in a cheap e-shop exclusive pack, appealing to the nostalgia of players who've experienced the original Pokemon Stadium games as well as other newer Pokemon fans.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky

Finally, the success of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX means that the way for a remake of the Explorers trio of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon titles needs to come to fruition. The Explorers series, with Explorers of Sky, are highly regarded as the best Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games in the series with the best story, dungeon design, and characters.

Unlike Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team, the Explorers trio game out after the release of the fourth generation of Pokemon, adding many new faces to the series and adding even more options for Pokemon that the human player can become in the beginning of the title.

The quality of life updates and features from other Mystery Dungeon titles added in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: DX could greatly benefit a remake to the Explorers trio and introduce more fans to one of the spin-off series' fan-favorite stories.
