A Pokemon Snap player built a photo station that looks like the ones available at Blockbuster Video stores in the late 1990s to print pictures from the Nintendo 64 game. Pokemon Snap was the first Pokemon game that let users take photos of their favorite pocket monsters, but printing them in real life was a challenge without dedicated photo stations.

Pokemon Snap was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. Unlike previous games from the franchise, the goal of Pokemon Snap isn’t to capture and battle various Pokemon, but instead to take the best photo of these cute creatures. Players then gathered these pictures in a virtual album and could print them in real life using photo station kiosks located in Blockbuster Video stores. The success of Pokemon Snap led to the release of its sequel New Pokemon Snap in 2020, letting a new generation of players discover this entry in the Pokemon franchise while reminding older players of their days on the Nintendo 64.

A nostalgic Pokemon Snap player known as thefieldsofdawn on Reddit shared various pictures of their latest creation, a replica of a Pokemon Snap Station kiosk that was placed at Blockbuster Video stores to let players print their photos from Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Stadium Nintendo 64 cartridges. This replica looks just like the original models, with a screen to display the images, a printer to collect the desired photos, and a guide on how to use the machine. Thefieldsofdawn explained that this replica is made from a vinyl-wrapped wooden box and a Canon Selphy photo printer. This Pokemon Snap Station kiosk is five feet tall and can print screenshots from Nintendo 64 games using the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch screenshot feature.

In the comments on the Reddit post, players asked whether they could purchase this Pokemon Snap Station replica. While its creator stated that the kiosk isn't for sale, they promised to share the assets and materials required to build the replica for those who would like to make their own. Despite being over two decades old, Pokemon Snap still gathers a faithful player base nostalgic about this original Pokemon game and new fans who discovered this experience through the more recent New Pokemon Snap.

Players who would like to rediscover the original Pokemon Snap without having to plug in a Nintendo 64 can head to Nintendo Switch Online, as Pokemon Snap is available with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. New Pokemon Snap offers a similar experience to the original game, but with more modern graphics, different creatures, and without the ability to evolve Pokemon in the wild.

Pokemon Snap is available for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers.
