Pokemon Scarlet & Violet don’t use the games-as-service model, but seven-star Tera Raid battles do give Pokemon fans something in that vein. The trouble is that players may have a great deal of difficulty actually figuring out how to access seven-star Tera Raid battles.

Pokemon Sword & Shield saw Game Freak do a brilliant job of offering interesting new content for players for years after the game’s release. Special Max Raid Battles, limited-time tournaments, and mystery gift giveaways let players almost always find something new and interesting in Galar. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are shaping up to be much the same.

In the months immediately following the games’ launch, the highlight of the new content offering has been seven-star Tera Raid battles in early December featuring Charizard and a similar event featuring Cinderace during the holidays. The two fire-type starters rank among the most popular Pokemon in the franchise and aren’t otherwise available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Players need to be able to access limited-time seven-star raids in order to take them on.

How to Get Into Seven-Star Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players are meant to access seven-star Tera Raid battles in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet after completing the main story, winning all the post-game gym leader rematches, and beating a number of five-star Tera Raid battles. However, seven-star Tera Raid battles are only available as part of an in-game event. These events last for a limited time, usually only for three days.

Players who have not yet beaten the game are able to join a seven-star Tera Raid battle by using a friend’s link code. However, seven-star opponents typically require a full team of level 100 Pokemon, meaning that a player who hasn’t yet beaten the game will likely handicap the team to the point where winning is challenging.

Seven-star Tera Raid battles fall are definitively post-game content. Not only do players have to complete Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s final mission, but they also need to complete some of the post-game content and then win a number of five-star Tera Raid battles. Players will know the condition is met when they receive a phone call from academy teacher Jacq warning them of particularly challenging Tera Raid battles appearing.

The phone call from Jacq is an alert to the player that six-star Tera Raid battles are now available. If the player goes online while an event is taking place, they will have access to one seven-star Tera Raid battle.

Players only have access to one seven-star Tera Raid battle in their world each day. More of these battles can be joined using the Poke Portal online matchmaking feature for Tera Raid battles.

The event can artificially be extended for players by not signing onto Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s online features after the event’s conclusion. One raid will continue appearing each real-life day, allowing players to farm the great rewards that are offered in seven-star battles.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
