It has been exactly five months since Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were first revealed during the Pokemon Day direct, with The Pokemon Company releasing a live-action trailer that also included multiple shots from the games. However, there has only been one trailer in the months since the reveal, with it showcasing the new co-op feature of Gen9 as well as three new early Route critters, and then the two box Legendaries for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. These Pokemon are called Koraidon and Miraidon, with the former representing the ancient themes of Pokemon Scarlet, and the latter depicting the futuristic themes of Pokemon Violet.

Ever since their first reveal, many Pokemon fans started to believe that there would be a third Legendary creature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that instead embodied the themes of the present. This theory was later partly dismissed by a leaker who allegedly got access to an early copy of the games, stating that there would be no third Legendary at all. Yet, the recent tweets from another leaker who has a proven track record for Pokemon games, called Riddler Khu, seem to say otherwise.

Although Khu mentioned that they would stop leaking information, new tweets are all about three Buddhas and how they are the key to understanding the concepts of Titan, the codename for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, one of the tweets mentions three different Buddhas: the first is Burning Lamp Buddha (also known as Dingguang Buddha), the second is Shakyamuni Buddha, and the third is Maitreya Buddha. Burning Lamp Buddha is considered the Buddha of the past and preceded Shakyamuni Buddha, whereas Maitreya Buddha is the Buddha of the future.

As such, it's possible that what Riddler Khu is suggesting is that there will indeed be a third Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with it representing the present. Because it's hard to imagine a modern Pokemon game without a third Legendary, Khu's hints are very credible, but the truth may lay in the middle. In fact, it's possible that the third Legendary for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won't be part of the base games, but rather it could be introduced with Gen 9's rumored DLC.

Khu is the same leaker that talked about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Grass/fire-type Pokemon and Pawmi evolutions, and they also leaked the type combinations of the three starters' evolutions. Thus, there's a chance that the third Legendary for Gen 9 will indeed be there, albeit not exactly when players expect it.
