Soon, the next Pokemon Scarlet and Violet seven-star Tera raid battle will see trainers face off against an uncommon starter Pokemon. The news of the next raid arrived just as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players ended their battles against Inteleon the Unrivaled.Since the concept of seven-star Tera raid battles was introduced with the ninth generation of Pokemon games, each battle to date has featured a starter Pokemon as the target for trainers to take on. In April, trainers faced off against Samurott and Typhlosion, which were recently featured as starters from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and recently against Inteleon, who debuted in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Though Inteleon proved to be a simpler battle compared to previous raids, the next Tera raid boss Pokemon is an uncommon foe, in more ways than one.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Fan Gives Miraidon a Monster Hunter-Style MakeoverAccording to Serebii.net, the ninth Pokemon Scarlet and Violet seven-star Tera raid battle will be against Chesnaught the Unrivaled, and it will have the Rock-type as its Tera Type. The battle begins on Friday, May 12, at 00:00 UTC and ends on Sunday, May 14, at 23:59 UTC. A repeat run will occur the following weekend, from May 19 to May 21. Known as the Spiny Armor Pokemon, Chesnaught is the final form of Chespin, the Grass-type starter Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y on the 3DS. While it has been overshadowed by other starters such as Greninja, Chesnaught is a formidable foe from the Kalos region with high physical attack and defense stats, and a versatile move pool to pick from.

Like other seven-star Tera raid bosses in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Chesnaught will have the Mightiest Mark and will have its Hidden Ability. In this case, Bulletproof makes Chesnaught immune to bomb and ball moves, such as Energy Ball and Aura Sphere. Chesnaught's signature move is Spiky Shield, which protects it from damage and hurts an attacking Pokemon that uses physical contact moves. As a bulky physical attacker, Chesnaught may also use additional moves such as Seed Bomb, Stone Edge, Close Combat, and Earthquake. However, Rock-type Pokemon are weak to Grass, Water, Ground, Steel, and Fighting-type attacks, so a strong Pokemon like Annihilape or a defensive wall such as Corviknight may help trainers take down the Spiny Armor Pokemon.

In addition to the upcoming battle against Chesnaught the Unrivaled, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have until Sunday, May 14, to claim victory over Walking Wake and Iron Leaves as well. Between these Tera raid battles, Pokemon trainers will have plenty of challenges to face soon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
