Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were announced over three months ago, but no official follow-up trailers or press releases came to provide fans with more information on what to expect from the Gen 9 games. A recurring thread has been that of predicting what sort of regional forms Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will feature, as well as what the corresponding box Legendaries would look like or what types would they be. Of course, another popular form of speculation for the Pokemon community thus far has been that of guessing the types of Gen 9 starters' final evolutions.

Because picking the right starter is often considered one of the most important aspects of mainline Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans are eager to discover what Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly will evolve into. So far, one of the most popular theories saw Sprigatito become a Grass/Fairy Pokemon, Fuecoco evolve into a Fire/Ghost-type, and Quaxly turn into a Water/Fighting critter. Today, a known leaker started their round of riddles for the month of June, and one of their tweets is likely hinting at the final forms of Gen 9 starters.

In a previous poll, the leaker, Riddler Khu, asked their Twitter followers to choose what sort of reveal they wanted to see in June, and the most voted option was the one concerning Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starters. With the new post, Khu is hinting at another popular theory being pretty much confirmed. This theory spread through the fanbase thanks to the fact that Sprigatito would evolve into a Grass/Dark-type Pokemon, instead, which would make more sense from a double-trifecta standpoint.

Khu's tweet, in fact, is a reference to Pokemon Legends: Arceus' starters, this time aligning Decidueye with a Dark-type item, Typhlosion with a Ghost-type item, and Samurott with a Fighting-type item. As it stands, the riddle likely means that Sprigatito will indeed be a Grass/Dark-type, whereas Fuecoco will evolve into a Fire/Ghost critter, and Quaxly into a Water/Fighting Pokemon. Because Riddler Khu has almost never been wrong, this is quite possibly the definitive answer to the debate surrounding the types of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starters.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are getting a new trailer tomorrow, too, and it's possible that new Pokemon or regional variants will be revealed. As for the starters, their final evolutions might not see the light of day prior to the games' release, at least if The Pokemon Company follows the same route as it did with Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
