Evolution is one of the most fundamental aspects of the Pokemon series. Fans enjoy seeing what different forms the newest Pokemon will take once they meet the proper conditions, including fan artists among the Pokemon community who even design their own evolutions for upcoming Pokemon.
Smoliv is a Grass- and Normal-type Pokemon introduced in the latest trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Showcased alongside four other new Pokemon, the olive Pokemon has fans discussing their opinions on its current appearance and what they believe this creature will turn into upon evolution.
A user on Reddit by the name of WhenBuffalosfly designed their own interpretation of what an evolution for Smoliv could look like. The new form itself is named Olivolitil and becomes a Grass and Fire-type Pokemon with the ability of solar power. WhenBuffalosfly seems to have taken inspiration from the Grass and Poison-type Roserade from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as Olivolitil sports similar design elements such as the same body type and limbs. Olivolitil wears a devilish grin which is in line with WhenBuffalosfly's description of the fan-made Pokemon, describing it as mischievous and destructive.
The actual design itself has moved the olive elements to its hand as they act like shooters in which Olivolitil can douse its enemies in flammable oil. While this is WhenBuffalosfly's most recent fan art of this nature, they have designed their own evolutions for the Generation 9 starter Pokemon. Other franchises this artist creates fan art for include Five Nights at Freddy's, Genshin Impact, and The Owl House.
One thing that fans may appreciate about WhenBuffalosfly's evolution for Smoliv is its typing. Fire and Grass is one of the type combinations that have yet to be introduced into the mainline Pokemon games. This could be because combining the elements of fire and nature together is a difficult task for Game Freak and its designers, or they simply haven't thought of an inspired concept for the typing yet. Though the answer is unknown, this concept for a Smoliv evolution has given fans an idea of how it could be done.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet still have a few months before release which means audiences will likely see a glimpse at a few more unknown Pokemon. Among these new Pokemon reveals could include an evolution for Smoliv or the Generation 9 starter Pokemon. Until audiences receive their first look at these possible evolutions, fans will continue to speculate on their new forms.
