After hatching over 100 Pokemon eggs, a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player was awarded a Shiny Scorbunny for their persistence and their luck. The player posted their success on social media for other Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to see, as the Tera Raid event for Cinderace continued in the games.

The Tera Raid event for Cinderace concludes after New Year's Day for this round. But, the event will repeat in two weeks for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to have another chance at catching Cinderace. After defeating and catching a Cinderace via the seven-star Tera Raid battles, players can then obtain Scorbunny and Raboot via Egg hatching and evolution respectively. This is the only way that Scorbunny and Raboot can be obtained in the ninth generation of Pokemon games at the time of writing.

Before their post was deleted by the moderators of the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, a Reddit user posted their successful hatching of a Shiny Scorbunny after 113 eggs were hatched beforehand. However, the subreddit's fourth rule involving the use of dedicated megathreads, including posts featuring Shiny Pokemon, was cited by moderators as the reason for removal. Once Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players conquer the Cinderace Tera Raid event, they may use the games' picnic feature to breed a Cinderace with a Ditto to get a Scorbunny egg. The egg will then hatch after a certain amount of steps taken by the player, which can be expedited if a Pokemon with the Flame Body ability is at the front of the party list.

Some users in the comments pointed out a key method often used by players to get a Shiny Pokemon to hatch. Once players obtain the Shiny Charm after completing the Pokedex, players can also use the "Masuda Method" to improve their odds down to a 1-in-512 chance to hatch a Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The method involves breeding two Pokemon that come from two different countries that speak different languages, such as the United States and Japan. It is named after The Pokemon Company's chief creative officer and Game Freak co-founder Junichi Masuda.

Though the Shiny Charm and Masuda Method may take away some of the rarity in obtaining Shiny Pokemon, the use of these tools provided within the games has not gone unnoticed by players. However, once the Tera Raid event for Cinderace concludes, the only other known way that players can have at obtaining Cinderace and its pre-evolutions in the ninth generation is to wait for Pokemon HOME compatibility to be added to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in early 2023. Though no exact date has been given at the time of writing, the wait should hopefully not be a long one.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
