Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set to be released in less than one month, and many fans are excited to get their hands on Gen 9 games to discover more about the Paldea region and catch the creature dwelling there. Speaking of the pocket monsters to become available in November, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have only revealed 19 Pokemon ahead of launch, which is a very low number compared to past news cycles for mainline games - especially with Pokemon Sun and Moon. This may be a marketing strategy, but there's been a trend with The Pokemon Company becoming more silent and quieter over time, starting with Pokemon Sword and Shield and then with Pokemon Legends: Arceus as well.

With few Pokemon revealed so far, fans who are looking forward to playing Gen 9 games can't plan their teams ahead of time all that much, especially if they haven't been keeping up with the many leaks and rumors that appeared online over the months. As it stands, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have only revealed one or more Pokemon for thirteen out of eighteen types, with an extra type coming from Koraidon, which is supposedly a Dragon/Fighting hybrid based on the leaks. Out of the 19 critters that are officially known thus far, the alleged total number of species that evolve from or into them is 37, but only half of them are known to the public.

Explaining Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Official Critters and Their Leaked Evolutions

The teralization of Fuecoco in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Of course, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starters will evolve twice each, which already accounts for nine species of pocket monsters ahead of launch. Typically, The Pokemon Company tends not to reveal the final stage evolutions of the starters, and middle stages have a hybrid track record but remain unlikely to be showcased before launch based on the company's most recent behavior. A Gen 9 creature that's already quite popular since its first appearance is Lechonk, and while it allegedly evolves into the same Pokemon regardless of gender, the aesthetic does differ.

Lechonk is said to evolve only once, and its evolution line accounts for two species. Other early route Pokemon that appeared in the early trailers for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are Pawmi and Smoliv, and they are both said to evolve twice, like starters. Pawmi's evolution was also apparently leaked very early by a leaker known as Kaka, whose information was mostly confirmed by Riddler Khu, the most trustworthy source in the community so far. As such, Pawmi and Smoliv are responsible for six species combined, bringing the total up to seventeen.

Cetitan, Grafaiai, and Bellibolt all share a similarity in the sense that they are meant to be the second and final stage of their respective evolution lines, meaning that they account for another six species in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Pokedex. This also holds true to a degree for Armarouge and Ceruledge, which evolve from the same base Pokemon but have a different form based on the version being played, accounting for three more species. Like Lechonk, Fidough, Paldean Wooper, and Wiglett all are allegedly evolving once, which means that they are responsible for another six species of Pokemon.

The only remaining ones are Klawf, Cyclizar, Farigiraf, and the box Legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon. None of these critters seem to have evolutions, with Cyclizar being the only odd one out if it really is the Legendaries' base form. Additionally, Farigiraf evolves from an existing Pokemon, which doesn't count. These Pokemon bring the final count to 37 species. Overall, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could have done a better job in showcasing more pocket monsters or more states of already revealed ones, and the hype could fall flat in the long run if no more trailers drop before launch.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set to release on November 18, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
