Since the reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, fans have torn down the trailer, speculated on the starters’ final forms, and tried to piece together everything they could about the upcoming games. One major aspect that has played into all of these is the fact that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are inspired by Spain, if not the entire Iberian Peninsula.

This country has influenced every discussion from fan theories about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s starters to the games’ legendaries, and everything in-between. Perhaps interestingly enough, though, this fact could play a major role in teasing new Pokemon for Scarlet and Violet via Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO’s Safari Zone event has been scheduled for this year, taking place from May 13 through May 15. It is the first time that an event like this has ever taken place in Seville, Spain, and because a promo for this event includes several Pokemon front and center (seen below), many fans think these Pokemon could be getting new regional forms. Of course, these Pokemon will play some role in the event, but since it is Seville’s first, it does add up that this could be a teaser, too—especially when looking at the Pokemon.

The Pokemon involved include Miltank, Tauros, Solrock, Corphish, Unown, and Deino. The Bull Pokemon are obviously being eyed pretty closely, while Solrock and Corphish are also due for new forms and would fit perfectly in a Spain-based Pokemon game. Unown and Deino may be the most interesting. The latter would imply a regional form for Hydreigon (following the pseudo-legendary Goodra also receiving a new form in Pokemon Legends: Arceus), and Unown could expand to include Spanish characters such as LL, RR, and CH, as well as the inverted question mark and exclamation marks.

Indeed, this could be enough to revitalize hunting for Unown. Pokemon Legends: Arceus managed this feature by hiding them around the game’s map, and given Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are open-world games, it would make it all the better to scatter Unown everywhere with new characters. Perhaps these Pokemon could play a major role in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s legendaries, but that is mere hope and speculation.

It's unlikely whether or not these specific Pokemon get regional forms confirmed anytime soon, but it still wouldn’t be surprising to see Pokemon GO support the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It did with the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus too, so it’ll be interesting to see how all of this develops in the coming months.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set to release in 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
