A team of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players came together to take on the newest seven-star Tera Raid battle using only four Pikachu to face Greninja the Unrivaled. Using clever setup moves and near-flawless execution, the four Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raiders defeated the poisonous Ninja Pokemon and posted their success in a short video on Reddit for other trainers to see.

Originally a Water and Dark dual-type Pokemon, Greninja the Unrivaled has Poison as its Tera-type. Using the moves Toxic Spikes and Double Team at the start of the battle, and throwing in attacks such as Hydro Pump, Night Slash, and Ice Beam, the seven-star Ninja Pokemon was a mixed attacker that players took on from January 27 through 29. Players that missed out on facing Greninja the Unrivaled will get another chance soon. The seven-star raid will have a repeat run starting at 0:00 UTC, Friday, February 10, and ending at 23:59 UTC, Sunday, February 12.

Even though the Poison Tera-type takes away Greninja's typical weakness to Electric-type attacks, that has not stopped the Pikachu posse from overpowering the Ninja Pokemon. On the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, a user named Nommable123 posted a video from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet of one of their successful runs. According to the comments section, Nommable123 stated that they and three of their friends got together to coordinate which of their Pikachu would be the attacker while the rest acted in supporting roles. Each of the four Pikachu had been EV trained to the maximum in order to fulfill their given role, with their defense and speed bolstered enough to withstand and respond to Greninja's attacks.

Each of the supporting Pikachu held an Eviolite to further buff their defenses, and the attacker Pikachu was given a Light Ball to further increase the odds of a one-hit knockout. The supporting Pokemon used their initial turns to weaken Greninja's stats via Charm and Eerie Impulse, as used shout commands to further increase the team's stats while the attacking Mouse Pokemon used Charge and Nasty Plot. With Electric Terrain and Rain Dance active on the battlefield, and Helping Hand used on the attacker, one Thunder attack was all it took for Greninja's HP to go from full to zero. Nommable123's video received over 100 upvotes within the first six hours of posting, and other users praised them for using a clever method to defeat Greninja the Unrivaled.

While random users may opt for conventional Slowbro and Gastrodon builds to safely take down the Ninja Pokemon, Nommable123 and their team proved that creativity and going against the grain can work in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While Greninja will return for another run in February, only time will tell what Pokemon will serve as seven-star raid bosses in the future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
