Dataminers may have discovered a whole new Pokemon that players will be able to find in the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. The plethora of trailers that have been released for the games so far have given the community plenty of new information to sink their teeth into, and while many new Pokemon have been revealed for Generation 9 so far, continuing leaks leave fans wondering how many more are yet to be seen in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The upcoming Scarlet and Violet games are the next mainline titles for the Pokemon franchise and were revealed in February, just a mere month after the launch of the popular Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Several trailers since the announcement of the Generation 9 games have given fans a look at the Paldea region along with some of the new characters and Pokemon that will populate it, with many adorable Pokemon such as Lechonk, Pawmi, and Smoliv taking social media by storm upon their announcement.

The leaked Pokemon was found by PokeMiners on Twitter, a group who specialize in mining information for Pokemon GO. Added in a file named "pmMystery," the Pokemon was found to be referred to only as "pm1080" in the file, and is complete with its own 3D model and animation. Though no 2D assets have been found for it yet, a few sharp Pokemon fans instantly recognized the enigmatic Pokemon from a recent Scarlet and Violet trailer, where the unidentified critter could be seen briefly in the background of a shot.

Not only that, some fans have drawn similarities between this Pokemon and a rumored "Coin Pokemon" that has been circulating throughout the community since it was leaked. Information surrounding this Coin Pokemon suggests that it would be very difficult to obtain, and likely would be unlocked by collecting certain items or Pokemon similar to the Zygarde Cells in Pokemon Sun and Moon or the Wisps in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While the leak labels this Pokemon as number 1080, that doesn't necessarily denote that as its Pokedex number - rather, this is likely the asset number, which counts individual forms among other factors.

Some fans are speculating that this newly-discovered Pokemon will be a collectible itself, and that players might have to find and catch many of them to unlock the rumored "Coin Pokemon." While there's little else in the way of information at the moment, its possible connection to the Coin Pokemon has fans suggesting that it may be a Steel type, with its eerie coloring leading some to believe that it might be Ghost type too. With only a couple of weeks left to go before the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players are sure to find out soon enough.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be available on Switch from November 18th 2022.
