The third official trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out yesterday, and The Pokemon Company finally showcased some of the biggest features of Gen 9, such as the Terastal phenomenon. Terastallization allows trainers to grant a single Pokemon on their team per battle the ability to change its type to any other or commit to the same base type it already has, but with more powerful moves. Terastal Pokemon could be better than Mega Evolutions in the long run thanks to the versatility that it brings to the table, with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also providing exciting additions to the Paldean Pokedex.

Among them is Paldean Wooper, the Gen 9 regional variant for the popular axolotl-like critter that will now be a hybrid Ground and Poison Pokemon, the first ever since Pokemon Red and Blue's Nidoking and Nidoqueen. The existence of Paldean Wooper was leaked in advance by someone with an early copy of the game, and then confirmed by a trustworthy leaker by the name of Riddler Khu. All of Khu's leaks usually prove to be correct or slightly off the mark, and now they are claiming the third trailer showed a picture of another hidden Pokemon.

With a recent tweet, Khu posted the picture of an in-game vehicle that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's third trailer showed for the first time, with the caption stating that it's the game's newest Poison/Steel-type Pokemon. The truck itself is not the Pokemon, and instead, the creature is the engine of the vehicle–as mentioned in other leaks from the past few weeks. This Pokemon's design is not completely visible, but it is fitting for a Poison/Steel hybrid considering that the engine is made of metal and pollutes the surrounding area.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Predicting the Three Stories

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will presumably feature more unused type combinations, but Poison and Steel is an incredibly powerful pairing due to it only having one 4x weakness and one 2x weakness combined with nine resistances and one immunity. It's a bit lacking on the offensive side when it comes to move coverage, but the concept of an engine Pokemon that's Poison/Steel is quite creative and compelling for the series. Still, the Pokemon has not been officially revealed yet despite the video showing the truck with it, and more information will likely come at a later date.

What is unlikely coming to Gen 9, however, is a new evolution for Eevee, even though fans have been asking for a new one ever since Sylveon was announced. In fact, the new merch for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet features Eevee and its existing evolutions all in one picture, making it hard to believe that a new Eeveelution is indeed coming.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
