Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are jam-packed with new features and Pokemon alike. The Paldea region is an expansive island modeled after areas of Spain that promises adventure and treasure for Pokemon Trainers. While on their journey, players will encounter the native Pokemon and fill out their Paldean Pokedex. One new addition is Flittle, a small Psychic-type avian Pokemon.

Flittle is tiny floating Pokemon that looks like it is wearing a dress or a skirt, and is referred to as the "Frill Pokemon." Its Pokedex entry says it is a feisty Pokemon that will give chase if its berries are stolen. Psychic-type Pokemon are known for their strength, especially with Special attacks. It is definitely worth catching a Flittle and evolving it into its second evolution form Espathra to build a solid Pokemon team in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Flittle Location

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Flittle

Flittle is a common Pokemon in Paldea, and it prefers mountains or desert areas. It is minimal in stature, so it can be easily missed if players aren't paying attention. However, despite its size, Flittle isn't a shy or scared Pokemon, so catching one won't be hard once found.

Be wary when dishing out damage to lower its HP, because Flittle has very little bulk and is easily KO'd. Players can avoid using attack moves with specialized Pokeballs like Quick Balls or Dusk Balls (at night) or inflicting it with a Status Condition like Sleep, Freeze, or Paralysis. Flittle's habitats include the following areas:

  • East Province (Area One)
  • South Province (Area Three, Four, Five & Six)
  • West Province (Area One)
  • Tagtree Thicket
  • Asado Desert
  • Casseroya Lake
  • Glasadeo Mountain

What Level Does Flittle Evolve?

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Flittle

Flittle will evolve once it hits level 35. Depending on what level Flittle is caught, it could take a while to evolve it into Espathra. Completing the Gyms and Team Star challenges is an excellent way to grind out matches. Wild Pokemon and trainer battles will also result in it leveling up. Automatic EXP Sharing means that Flittle won't have to enter a battle to earn EXP, which is very helpful due to its lower stats in its first form.

Items like the Rare Candy or Exp. Candy will speed up the process without having to engage in trainer battles. Both can be found on the ground randomly, or picked up from winning Tera Raid battles. Players will also be rewarded with Exp. Candy for passing their midterms at the Academy.

About Espathra

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Espathra

Espathra is a colorful ostrich-like Pokemon that maintains its sole Psychic-typing. It is a rather violent Pokemon known to attack trainers on sight in the wild. However, Espathra is a much more well-rounded Pokemon compared to its predecessor, stat-wise. Its Sp. Atk and Speed are particularly impressive, both being north of 100.

It is also the only known Pokemon that can learn to move Lumina Crash, which damages the target and lowers its Sp. Def. This naturally sets it up to put its high Special Attack to good use. Another perk is its ability Opportunist, which will match any stat boosts an opponent might receive in battle from moves or items.

The following chart outlines Espathra's stats:
