Assuming players are following the preferred gym order in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Glaseado should be the last gym that they visit before being invited to the Pokemon League. For those who've already defeated the Quaking Earth Titan and unlocked Fly, reaching the gym is as simple as flying back to the Pokemon Center in Montenevera and then making the short trip south. For everybody else, however, it means climbing the cold and snowy Glaseado Mountain once again.

Upon their arrival in Glaseado, players will find very little there, with only a gym, a battle arena, and a Pokemon Center in the small settlement. There is a fantastic view of Paldea though for those who are into that sort of thing. As with the other seven gyms in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players will need to pass a special test before being able to take on the gym's leader, who, in this case, is an Ice-type trainer named Grusha.

How to Prepare for the Glaseado Gym

Grusha predominantly uses Ice-type Pokemon, which, on paper, means that Fighting, Fire, Rock, and Steel-types can come in handy. However, Beartic knowing Aqua Jet and Earthquake and Cetitan having access to Liquidation makes this an ideal gym for Fighting-type Pokemon, so players should bring the strongest ones that they have at their disposal, if only for dealing with the first three Pokemon in Grusha's team.

That said, a strong Fire-type can still be useful against Frosmoth and Altaria, so those who picked Fuecoco as their starter Pokemon should bring Skeledirge along with them. For everybody else, Flareon can be found in the nearby Dalizapa Passage area. Another useful option that players may have from the early stages of the game is Primeape, whose Low Kick attack can one-shot Beartick due to the latter's immense weight. Finally, much like the last gym, using Houndstone and its Last Respects move when the rest of the player's team has been defeated can one-shot Grusha's Tera Altaria, which can make for a great last resort.

How to Complete the Glaseado Gym Test (Take on the Snow Slope Run!)

The Glaseado Gym test requires players to slide down a slope in 90 seconds or less while riding their Legendary Pokemon. There are some gates that players can pass through, but doing so doesn't seem to make any difference other than perhaps marking the fastest route, so players shouldn't worry too much about missing one or two of them. The whole thing is remarkably simple, with even uncoordinated players able to complete the run with about half of the allotted time still remaining.

Players should aim to lead with a relatively fast Pokemon as Grusha will always start out by having Frosmoth use Tailwind. The good news is that if players are able to outspeed the Pokemon or have access to a hard-hitting priority move, a good Fire-type attack will take Frosmoth out with a single hit. After dealing with Frosmoth, players should swap out for a Fighting-type to deal with Beartic and then quickly get rid of Cetitan, again using a Fighting-type Pokemon (it's a fairly heavy Pokemon, so, as with Beartic, Low Kick can be pretty effective here).

To deal with Tera Altaria, players should pick a physical attacker with reasonably high speed, while also making sure to attack its weakness (which, after Grusha Terastallizes, becomes either Fighting, Fire, Rock, or Steel-type attacks). However, it's worth noting that Moonblast and Hurricane will tear through Fighting-type Pokemon, so players will probably want to choose a Fire, Rock, or Steel-type when dealing with Grusha's last Pokemon. If all else fails though, Houndstone should be able to deal with Altaria using Last Respects.

Following the battle, players will receive ₽8,640 in prize money and the Glaseado Gym badge. Assuming this is their last badge, they'll now be able to train Pokemon of any level and will have a much easier time catching high-level Pokemon out in the wild. Grusha will also give them TM124, Ice Spinner, which is a powerful Ice-type attack that deals physical damage. Back in the lobby, Geeta and Nemona will show up and the Pokemon League will be marked on the player's map.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
