Quick Links
Nature Mints are a fairly new item to the Pokemon franchise, making their debut in Generation 8's Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. They appear again in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl as well as Legends: Arceus. Therefore, it may not have been too surprising for Pokemon fans to see Nature Mints make a return in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
Just as their name indicates, Nature Mints will change a Pokemon's Nature. For those that don't know, Natures increase the growth of a Pokemon's base stat (barring HP) while decreasing another stat (again: barring HP). If Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet trainers get a Pokemon with a Nature that isn't compatible with their base stats, then they may want to consider giving their Pokemon a sprig of Mint.
Types of Mints & Where to Find Them
There are 21 Nature Mints, and each one corresponds to one of the many Natures that Pokemon can have. For the most part, Scarlet/Violet players can pick up Mints lying on the ground all over Paldea. Look in grassy areas or in forests. However, there may also be mints in the fields outside Cortondo.
Mints that are picked up in the overworld will have "sparkle" like any other random item. They're also random, so if players are looking for a specific Mint, they'll have to leave it to chance. Alternatively, players can make some progress in the Victory Road storyline.
Once players get 6 gym badges, they'll unlock Mints at the Chansey Supply store. There are a total of four Chansey Supplies in all of Paldea. Here's where they're located:
- Mesagoza: There's one in the Central Square and another in the east by the Sure Cans store.
- Levincia: Go south from the northern Pokemon Center.
- Cascarrafa: To the left of the northern Pokemon Center (the one by the desert).
- Montenevera: Opposite the Pokemon Center.
All Mints that can be purchased cost 20,000 poke dollars. Thus, Scarlet/Violet players will want to make sure they're collecting and selling plenty of treasure or equipping the Amulet Coin to double prize money from other trainers/gym leaders.
Here's a list of each Mint and what they do in Scarlet/Violet:

*Serious Mints will neither increase nor decrease a Pokemon's stat growth. The Serious Mint serves as an umbrella for the "neutral" Natures, i.e., Quirky, Hardy, Bashful, or Docile.
Keep in mind that Mints will change the stat growth of a Pokemon, but the Nature listed on their Summary page will still be the same. This means that Pokemon like Toxel, which evolve into different forms depending on their Nature, will still evolve into Amped Toxtricity or Lowkey Toxtricity depending on its original Nature.
- For example: A trainer with a Bold Nature Toxel will get a Lowkey Toxtricity. If the trainer uses a Jolly Mint to change Toxel's stats to +Speed and -Attack hoping to get Amped Toxtricity instead, Toxel will still evolve into Lowkey Toxtricity even though its stat growths were altered by the Mint.
Nature Mints are best used on level 1 Pokemon that are going to be EV Trained. This will give them the boost they need for their ideal stat. A Pokemon can take a Nature Mint at any level, so it's ultimately up to the trainer what they decide to do.
Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
