Nintendo’s relatively recent reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have left fans wanting more. In that vacuum, fan art, speculation, and rumors have all piled in. The best thing to do when players see a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet rumor is to assume that it’s fake, as many rumors often are. Yet, they are often good reflections of what a general community wants to see.

One new rumormonger has cropped up in the wake of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s reveal, and that is a Twitter user known as The SV Guy. He recently made a post where he had someone design, roughly, what the final evolutions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s starters apparently look like, based on his supposed experience with the games. There’s little to no reason to trust The SV Guy, especially since nothing is verifiable at all, and so should anyone come across these images online, they should be taken with a grain of salt.

According to The SV Guy, the final form of Sprigatito is Florarince, a Grass/Fairy-type based on an Iberian lynx and flamenco dancers. It would in this form, despite many wishes, become bipedal. Fuecoco’s final form is allegedly called Cucapiente, a Fire/Ghost Pokemon based on a Cucafera and a Quetzacoatl. Finally, Quaxly supposedly evolves into Cabospada, a Water/Dark-type based on Zorro and Don Quixote.

Overall, the art of these Pokemon look impressive and, to a degree, believable to what the final forms could look like. If these were submitted as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan art, it would almost certainly be well-received; however, as a supposed rendition of the real Pokemon and a “leak,” the chances of them being real are slim—not impossible, as stranger things have happened, but real slim.

There are a couple of notable reasons for this. It is really unlikely anyone has access to all the information they’ve shared, especially without intervention by Nintendo. The leaker has said the name of the region is Vadal, has discussed the Pokemon Gen 9 gimmick, the Pokemon with new forms, and more. Furthermore, a lot of their “leaks” fall in with fan wishlists and desires—which is usually a tell-tale sign that something is faked.

Truly, the only things that The SV Guy’s leaks add to the aforementioned starter designs are a name and an image. All of this, in one form or another, has been speculated upon by the Pokemon community: Sprigatito’s bipedal transformation, the typings especially for “Cucapiente,” Quaxly’s Quixote inspirations, and more. Some of this may feel obvious, but the community isn’t’ going to get it all right, especially with so little official info.

All in all, it’s best to take this leak with a HUGE grain of salt. The SV Guy did claim another Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer would drop on Friday, April 29, revealing the region name and more. For now, it remains to be seen if this is the case, but it could help validate some of their leaks—if so.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are scheduled for release in late 2022 on Nintendo Switch.
