Many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have started voicing their questions about Game Freak's logic with certain Pokemon stats that may not entirely make sense at first glance. With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet kicking off Gen 9 of Pokemon, many fans are filling their Pokedex and discovering some peculiar details about some Pokemon versus others when observing their design, stature, information in the entry, and more.

Reddit user Kaiyoti920 recently shared an image of two Pokemon with the caption simply asking Game Freak "why?" because of what seems like a contrary attack power difference between the two. Even though Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans are noticing issues with the Gen 9 Pokedex and stats associated with the Pokemon included, previous generations have also had their peculiarities. While many Pokemon may have improved special attack or defense to offset poor stats elsewhere in their genetic makeup, Game Freak still left some Pokemon up for debate like the two highlighted by Kaiyoti920 and others.

Kaiyoti920's Reddit post specifically points to the attack power of the new Pokemon Tinkaton and Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire's Trapinch, with the former having a stat of 75 points and the latter reaching up to 100. Although Tinkaton has a small frame like the opposing Trapinch, the Pokemon is one of very few that includes a weapon in its design as it's always wielding a hammer that's much more imposing than itself. Where some players may expect improved defense for an armored Pokemon, some fans like Kaiyoti920 expect Tinkaton to have much more attack power than it has, with a less impressive 70 points in special attack failing to make sense of it.

According to the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pokedex entries, Tinkaton's hammer weighs over 200 pounds, and it swings the weapon around with ease as the Pokemon uses it to send rocks flying at airborne Corviknight. Though some Pokemon fans debated Kaiyoti920's original suggestion by highlighting the imposing jaw of Trapinch, which is noted in the Pokedex as being strong enough to crush boulders, others remained skeptical. Tinkaton and Trapinch's Pokemon stats aren't the only ones compared against each other in Kaiyoti920's Reddit post as the top response points to Registeel holding the same attack stats as Bellsprout.

A plethora of Pokemon names was noted in the response to Kaiyoti920's Reddit post including Alakazam, Annihilape, Hitmonchan, Houndstone, Gholdengo, Flygon, Krabby, Lugia, Maushold, Onix, Zacian, Zamazenta, and Zebstrika, but none stacked up like Tinktaton with Trapinch. Although a portion of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet community has taken to Tinkaton as a Pokemon Gen 9 favorite because of its tiny stature, others may be removing it from their parties for Pokemon with more favorable stats.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
