There have been tons of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet rumors in recent weeks, in light of the sparse information revealed by Game Freak and The Pokemon Company. Notably, however, one of the most obvious rumors is that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will feature DLC. This expansion model worked for Sword and Shield, and fans can likely expect the same out of these new titles.

Of course, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will likely iterate on the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLCs. However, with the region of Paldea finally named and its map shown off, it seems there is an obvious setting its DLC should explore: Kalos, if not in full.

Pokemon S/V: Pokemon X and Y Anniversary Should Show Connections Between Kalos and Paldea

Pokemon X Y Map

It's unlikely Pokemon S/V DLC will unlock the ability for players to explore all of Kalos, but it makes sense if players travel to a small Kalos region. For one, Pokemon X and Y will celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2023. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's release date is in October, meaning its first DLC wouldn't release until 2023 anyway. This timing cannot be ignored given the connections between Kalos and Paldea.

Pokemon X and Y's Kalos is based on France, while Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea is based on Spain. France and Spain share borders, making Kalos and Paldea the first two regions that have been connected since the first few generations of Pokemon. To ignore this would be a travesty, and it seems the companies involved are potentially already acknowledging this. As seen in the map of Kalos above, the southern border is coated in mountains and clouds to hide the potential of anything beyond. The top right of Paldea, where it would logically connect to Kalos, is also hidden behind clouds and mountains.

It may not be a region fans are familiar with, but these mountains would be a great area to expand and given an official title. All Pokemon S/V have to do is confirm that this region is part of Kalos, feature a bunch of Kalos Pokemon here, and perhaps explore storylines that could overlap with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokemon X and Y. Perhaps, because Pokemon S/V trainers are students, they are sent to this region to do some study on Zygarde that could fulfill long-lost fan ideas about Pokemon Z. If so, it's likely to be popular among many fans who have wanted more regional representation in mainline titles.
