It's been heavily rumored that the upcoming DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will feature special new Tera Forms for some of its monsters. With the role the Terastal Phenomenon played in the base games for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and the hints at how the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC might further explain this mechanic, it's becoming increasingly likely that these new Tera Forms will be present in the expansion. It's not clear how many new Tera Forms will be included, but there are a handful of creatures who deserve some more love in the DLC and could see a new form.

Past generational gimmicks like Mega Evolution and Gigantamaxing have given new forms to a variety of mons, some popular and others in need of a power boost. Although Game Freak seems to give more attention to Gen 1 monsters more than any other generation, there is usually a unique mix of creatures who receive new forms from these gimmicks. With this history in mind, there are still some great candidates in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to receive a rumored Tera Form.

Meowscarada, Skeledirge, and Quaquaval

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: What do the Starter Evolutions Look Like?

As the mascots of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet outside the Legendary Koraidon and Miraidon, the starter trio is the most deserving of Tera Forms in the DLC. There is already a precedent set for starters to receive special forms, with the Gen 1 starters Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, as well as the Gen 3 starters Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert getting Mega Evolutions, and the Gen 8 starters Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon receiving Gigantamax Forms in the DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield. It would be a major missed opportunity not to give Meowscarada, Skeledirge, and Quaquaval Tera Forms in their home generation.

Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja

While Mega Evolution was introduced in Gen 6's Pokemon X and Y, it was surprising that the starter trio of that generation never received Mega Evolutions themselves, though Greninja would receive the special Ash-Greninja form in Gen 7. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has the chance to redeem the Mega Evolution snub of Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja in Gen 6 by giving them Tera Forms in Gen 9's DLC. While it's unlikely the DLC will allow players to return to Kalos, it can still include some references to the region by giving new forms for its starters.

Milotic

Along with new locations and creatures, the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is also set to bring some mons back that were previously unavailable in Gen 9. As such, it seems only natural to give at least one of these returning mons a Tera Form and Gen 3's Milotic is a perfect candidate. Not only is Milotic a popular creature due to its beauty and historical difficulty in obtaining, but it has never received a new form in any past generations, making it overdue for some more attention.

Glimmora

Aside from the starter trio, it's likely that other Gen 9 mons will get Tera Forms in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, and one that deserves a new form is Glimmora. While it might seem like an odd choice in a sea of much more popular new mons, Glimmora's role as Geeta's underwhelming ace along with its mediocre stats makes it a worthy candidate for a glow-up. If the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC features Geeta as a prominent member of its plot, it would make sense for her to receive an upgrade to the team member that she Terastalizes in her champion battle. Plus, Glimmora's abundance in the depths of Area Zero gives it the perfect lore justification for receiving a Tera Form.
