Many fans were hoping to see Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC announced at February 27's Pokemon Presents, and luckily, The Pokemon Company delivered with the announcement of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. Of course, this was but one of few announcements there, including news about the Pokemon TCG's new classic format, Pokemon Unite's introduction of Zacian, Pokemon Masters EX, and the upcoming launch of Pokemon Sleep.

One of the first announcements were new legendary Tera raids for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Starting on February 27, players will be able to encounter Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet, a Water/Dragon-type Paradox form of Suicune, and Iron Leaves in Pokemon Violet, a Grass/Psychic-type Paradox form of Virizion. Many believed these Pokemon would be directly tied to the DLC, so seeing them introduced in Tera Raids is quite the surprise, though a welcome one.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is split into two parts: the first being called The Teal Mask. Set to release in Fall 2023, The Teal Mask will introduce returning Pokemon, a new legendary called Ogerpon, and visit a location called Kitakami as part of a school trip. The second DLC, releasing in Winter 2023, is called The Indigo Disk. It'll introduce returning Pokemon, a new world turtle legendary called Terapagos, and see players become a transfer student at Blueberry academy. The relevant portion begins around the 21:00-minute mark below.

Furthermore, those who pre-purchase the DLC will be able to get a special code to receive a special Hisuian Zoroark. It's definitely more than what was shown with Pokemon Sword and Shield's DLC reveal, but there is plenty more where that comes from. One of the biggest questions right now is when they will specifically release, but it'll likely be closer to launch before The Pokemon Company touches on that.

No doubt, fans still have a lot of questions and will want to see more of the new Pokemon coming to the DLC. There should be more answers in the coming weeks and months, unless the DLC gets a marketing strategy similar to the mainline releases. Not much was shown of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ahead of release, and that makes it hard to guess how much will be shown before the DLC drop. Perhaps it'll follow in similar footsteps, but here's hoping otherwise.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
