The internet has become covered in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaks after the ROM found its way into the wild, and now fans also know new details regarding breeding. Obviously, while there are things like story spoilers to be concerned about, most Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaks have focused on evolution lines, Paradox Pokemon, and the starters. Knowing what the creatures end up as goes a long way for many fans, but because breeding can pass down powerful moves and the like, it's arguably as important.

However, for many this is still a spoiler. Anyone who is trying to avoid Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaks should turn back now, but please also note no major, major spoilers aside from how breeding works are discussed to any degree of depth here.

In short, the biggest change is that there are no longer daycares in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as setting up a picnic basically serves as a mobile daycare. This means fans will be able to breed their Pokemon at a moment's notice, after picnics are introduced in the game. To breed Pokemon after the picnic is started, players simply need to have two compatible Pokemon in their party, but it remains unclear what happens if someone has more than two compatible Pokemon in their party. Following that, players simply need to wait for the egg to appear in the basket. It was first thought players would need to walk around the picnic for the egg to appear, but it has since been confirmed that players can essentially go AFK and eggs (yes, plural) will appear in the basket over time.

Afterward, players will simply need to walk around to hatch the egg, per usual game rules. Egg moves, the Masuda Method, and all of that remain viable in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, while players can also make sandwiches that speed up the breeding process. All in all, it seems like a great quality of life change, such as moving Pokemon Centers to outdoor stops.

Of course, there are still plenty of questions regarding eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, particularly when it comes down to if anything being passed down changes, if certain Pokemon can't be bred, and so on. For that info, fans will likely need to wait until the games release, and more in-depth practice and research can be done by the community.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
