Although The Teal Mask DLC will arrive first in Fall 2023, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's second DLC The Indigo Disk is still generating lots of interest from fans. The Indigo Disk, set to release in Winter 2023, is going to bring forth plenty of new content including new Pokemon such as the new legendary Pokemon Terapagos and new trainers to battle, as shown in the reveal trailer for the DLC. Although, one new thing from the Indigo Disk is particularly peculiar, which is the setting of the DLC. In the Indigo Disk, players will be attending the sister school of Naranja/Uva Academy: Blueberry Academy.

Unlike Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, Blueberry Academy is located away from Paldea's mainland, as the school is situated in the middle of the ocean, which is a strange place to have a school. Although not much is currently known about Blueberry Academy, it's confirmed that the school is relatively new compared to the main academy and its courses primarily focus on Pokemon battling. The reveal trailer gave fans glimpses of the school, showing off the classrooms and the main battle arena where players will likely face off against the new trainers teased in the DLC's poster. Blueberry Academy seems like a pleasant place, but it seems likely the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC has much more to offer.

Exploration Around Blueberry Academy

It's confirmed that most of the school's building is under the sea, meaning that there's potential for exploration among the different sections of the academy. Speculatively, it's possible players will be able to maneuver around the school and attend classes, similarly to exploring Naranja/Uva Academy, but hopefully there are more places for players to investigate. Players should be able to go floor-by-floor in Blueberry Academy, with each floor containing specific rooms, such as a classroom floor, dorm floor, and training floor. Also, the stadium shown in the trailer should also be available for players to survey, as it's going to be the location for significant Pokemon battles against the students hinted at in The Indigo Disk poster.

However, one thing perplexing about the DLC is that it's unclear where players will be able to explore and catch both new and returning Pokemon. As The Indigo Disk takes place in a school, it can be assumed that wild Pokemon won't be just roaming around the halls of the academy unless something mysterious happens like a breach or wormhole opening. It's possible that players could explore nearby islands and the ocean surrounding the school, but that would take focus away from the academy, making it unlikely. One possibility could be that something is hidden in the deepest parts of the academy.

What Could Be Under Blueberry Academy

One major theory that could explain why Blueberry Academy is located in the middle of the ocean is that there's a research facility in the deepest part of the academy. Similarly to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea, researchers could be investigating something mysterious located beneath the academy, such as something related to Paradox Pokemon or the Terastal phenomenon. Research laboratories could be set up in the lower parts of the academy, where Pokemon are being researched or experimented on, including the new legendary Pokemon Terapagos, who could have been found in the depths of the ocean near the school.

Another possibility could be a cave system hidden beneath the ocean, accessible through an elevator from the academy, where players are able to explore the caves and catch new and returning Pokemon. An interesting feature that Game Freak could add to The Indigo Disk is adding something similar to Pokemon Sword and Shield's Dynamax Adventures from The Crowned Tundra DLC, except replacing Dynamax with Terastilized Pokemon. The special raid game mode could introduce players to the rumored new Tera Form Pokemon. It's a long way until the DLC is released, so fans will continue to speculate what secrets Blueberry Academy is hiding.
