When compared to most of their predecessors, there really weren't too many Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet at the time of their release. None of the series' pre-existing Mythical and Legendary Pokemon could be caught at launch either, meaning that players were limited to just six Legendaries to begin with; two of which were version-exclusive Pokemon.

For context, only the first two generations of Pokemon games had introduced fewer Mythical and Legendary Pokemon than Pokemon Scarlet & Violet did at launch. However, that's all changed thanks to the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk expansions, with the Gen 9 games having now introduced more new Mythical and Legendary Pokemon than any previous generation.

Updated December 22, 2023, by Tom Bowen: Much like their eighth-generation counterparts, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet received two DLC expansions, both of which added a bunch of new Legendary Pokemon into the games. As such, those hoping to catch every Mythical and Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet now have three times as many Pokemon to keep an eye out for as they did when the games first launched, making the process a lot more daunting than it first was. The good news is that several of the Gen 9 Legendary Pokemon are captured automatically as part of the main story, and the others are fairly easy to catch once players make it to the post-game.

If they return to the bottom of the crater afterward, they'll be able to find and catch another Koraidon.

Miraidon

Miraidon can only be found in Pokemon Violet and accompanies players on their journey through the Paldea region. After completing all three main story paths and the final quest, The Way Home, the player's Miraidon will be able to change form and join their team in battle. Ogerpon

While wearing the Teal Mask, Ogerpon is a pure Grass-type Pokemon, but switching to the Wellspring, Hearthflame, or Cornerstone mask will grant it a secondary typing of Water, Fire, or Rock respectively. Players will encounter Ogerpon automatically as part of The Teal Mask's main story. After defeating all four forms, they'll be able to catch it and add it to their Pokedex.
