Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans have been waiting quite some time to learn more about the new region they'll be exploring in the upcoming games. Luckily, the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer had some answers, confirming the new region's name and giving fans a look at some of the areas that it features.

Shortly after releasing the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer, The Pokemon Company published a detailed map of the Paldea region. Whereas Pokemon Sword and Shield's Galar region was more vertical in design, the Paldea region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is circular. It looks as though it will feature a variety of biomes, with a desert area, numerous grassy fields, hills, an oceanfront port, snowy mountaintops, a lake, and more.

One of the most striking features on the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Paldea region map is the huge swirling vortex at its center. It seems likely that this area will have some great significance to the story, though details on what exactly it is and what it entails have yet to be revealed. It's possible more information about this particular area won't be revealed until players have the chance to play through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's story for themselves.

Besides showing off Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region, the latest trailer for the games also revealed that there will actually be three different storylines for players to complete. One of these storylines is the traditional Pokemon game story of conquering eight different gym leaders and becoming the champion of the region. The other two stories weren't detailed, but it's possible that one of them will lead players to the center of the Paldea region map to figure out what this massive vortex is and what it may mean for the game world.

It's also worth remembering that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are an open world experiences, meaning players are free to go wherever they'd like as soon as they start their adventure. It may be possible for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to make a beeline straight to the vortex in the center of the Paldea region map, but it's also possible that area will be blocked off until some story requirements are met. Fans will have to wait for more information to know for sure.

Based on the official map artwork, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region looks quite large, and it will be interesting to see just how big it is once players are able to explore it for themselves later this year.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
