Pokemon Scarlet and Violet look to be packed with brand-new features for fans. Alongside the traditional additions of new Pokemon to catch and a new region to explore, it seems that Game Freak is seeking to create a Pokemon game that stands out as much as possible from many of the franchise's previous entries. With a new trailer for Scarlet and Violet being shown recently, fans have got a good look at the new features, legendary Pokemon, and more coming at the end of 2022.

However, the new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet couldn't reveal everything the game has to offer, and some details were left out. Namely, the open-world of Scarlet and Violet was shown somewhat in the trailer, but fans weren't exactly told how it would work. Now, thanks to the PokemonUK Twitter account, fans have been informed of how the open-world will work, and it seems even from early details that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be vastly improving on Sword and Shield's open exploration.

According to a tweet which was posted under a link to the new trailer, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will allow for open-world exploration right off the bat. The way the player, or players, as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will allow for an online co-op experience, interact with the world will not be "dictated by the story." This means essentially that a player can go out into the world as soon as they want, without having to wait until certain NPCs stop blocking the road or Snorlax moves from a certain bridge.

It is still likely that a player will have to pick their starter Pokemon before they start running around the unnamed region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If they don't have any Pokemon to protect them, as many games do inform the player, they are unlikely to survive any wild Pokemon encounter without being beaten and sent to the nearest Pokecenter. However, for speedrunners of Pokemon games, it will be good to know that they no longer have to glitch their way around the world to beat the games as quickly as possible.

Apart from allowing open-world exploration from early on, Scarlet and Violet look to make some other major differences to the traditional formula of the mainline games. For the first time, two separate Professors will feature in mainline Pokemon titles depending on which version a player has bought. Moreover, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will allow for a full team of trainers to adventure the world, as mentioned previously.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
