Over the course of the months leading to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's release, the trailers for Gen 9 games revealed many new interesting concepts and features. Among them is the fact that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Nemona could break two traditions in the form of not picking one of the remaining starters after players choose their own, and also by being an already experienced trainer. As for more practical additions, a great example comes with the Terastal phenomenon, which allows trainers to choose any Pokemon on their team and change its existing types to a new Tera type.

Gen 9 will also grant players the ability to not only eventually catch and use the box Legendaries in battle, but to also use them as ridable creatures from very early on, which makes for a great bonding experience with these Pokemon and for a fun way to explore the region. However, the number of evolution lines in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed thus far is quite limited, with only a total of 11 Pokemon showcased in official trailers, including the starters and the Legendaries.

Today, a known leaker by the name of Riddler Khu shared a few tweets that talk about two entirely new evolution lines coming with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The first one was hinted at by using the Japanese word for parakeet, which is a small-sized parrot that usually has long feathers, especially in its tail area. The tweet was followed up with another hint at the Hidden Machine for Fly, which has been a staple of the series for a long time, and in this case, it's likely to reinforce the idea that this Pokemon is a Flying-type, maybe even pure Flying.

Then, Khu's second subset of tweets addresses a fish Pokemon species that is likely a codfish, which would make sense for the setting of Gen 9 games. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region is supposedly inspired by real-world's Spain and Portugal, with the latter having many unique dishes that use codfish in different ways. Khu's follow-up tweet to this one refers to the fish Pokemon as "light," in the sense of low weight, according to the translation. Fans are interpreting this to be a sign that the creature will be Water/Electric or Water/Fairy, but no further details are currently available.

Recently, Khu also revealed the exact number of new Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which is allegedly going to be 105 in total for entirely new species, Paradox Pokemon, and cross-gen evolutions. It's unclear whether the so-called regional fakes are included, but that is likely to be the case, whereas new forms like the regional variant for Wooper are confirmed not to be part of the count.
