Three official guide books are coming alongside the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, covering different topics including one focused solely on the story and another centered around the Pokedex. As the ninth mainline entries in the Pokemon franchise, Scarlet and Violet look to shake up the traditional formula fans are used to when they release in November. From adding a ton of new exploration options through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's open Paldea region to bringing in a lot of new Pokemon to fill that setting, players will see a lot of new things soon. With any game, sometimes the sheer amount of information players face can be a bit much, and while strategy guides can help a gamer figure out where they're meant to go or how to locate a specific item, on occasion, a company will publish a guide book for its game. Pokemon has released plenty of guide books in the past, and it isn't the only franchise to do so. Upon the launch of Monster Hunter World players were able to buy a massive book full of tips and tricks.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer Introduces New Gym Leader IonoPokemon insider Joe Merrick has unveiled on Twitter that the latest games will have not one, not two, but three guide books to help players explore the Paldea region. According to Merrick, these guides will only launch in Japan, at least initially, and the first book for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be released when the games launch on November 18. This guide will give players a general overview of the paths they can explore but won't be going into any major depth.

The second guide drops on December 16 and will be a story guide. The third and final book releases February 2, 2023, and will be a full Pokedex guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region. It's not known if there will be English releases of these books, but Merrick raised the point that Pokemon Sword and Shield saw some major leaks following the release of their English guide. There wasn't an English guide book for Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or Legends: Arceus either.

The reasoning behind having three books to unveil all that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have to offer is likely due to the games' expanded narratives. Rather than just going on a quest to be the best there ever was, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has three stories the player can complete, with one revolving around the traditional path to becoming a champion, another giving players the chance to track down and catch huge legendary Pokemon, and the third letting them take on Team Star.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release on November 18 on Nintendo Switch.
