While Pokemon GO ramps up with Pokemon GO Fest 2020, there is another Pokemon game that has caught its last. Pokemon Rumble Rush is no longer available to play on any device.

Pokemon Rumble Rush was a mobile Pokemon game by Ambrella. It was released in Spring 2019 on the Google Play Store, but didn't make the splash that the Pokemon Company was hoping for. In April 2020, it was announced that Pokemon Rumble Rush would be shutting down for good. Players have had the last few months to use their premium currency and get that last Rush in.

As of today, July 22nd, 2020, Pokemon Rumble Rush is officially unavailable. The game can no longer be played on any device. “Pokemon Rumble Rush has been retired and services for the mobile game have ended,” The Pokemon Company said an announcement. It also reminded players that they "cannot play any previously installed version of the app."

Rumble Rush ended July 22nd

While fans were originally excited about this free-to-play Pokemon game, it became clear pretty early on that it was only a "free-to-start" game. It pushed fans to spend more and more real money on Poke Diamonds for cosmetics and moving the game forward. It's not a surprise that, with the plethora of Pokemon Games available on mobile, this heavy leaning on microtransactions was a recipe for almost guaranteed disaster. The game is only about a year old, as it was released in May 2019, and it's already just a footnote in Pokemon history.

Hopefully, this won't be the end of the Rumble series; a new Rumble Switch game could be just what Nintendo needs.
