The Pokemon series sees some changes being made whenever new entries are released. New Types have been added, quality-of-life adjustments have been implemented, and mechanics such as Mega Evolution were featured in certain games. While a lot has stayed the same about Game Freak's RPG franchise, every Pokemon game makes certain changes to help players enjoy the latest versions.

One change that was put in the games not too long ago was regional variants. The first games to have regional variants were Pokemon Sun and Moon, which took existing pocket monsters and changed their Typing, Ability, and move set. Regional variations were carried into Sword and Shield and may be in Scarlet and Violet. Since the forms were introduced, gamers have been coming up with their own, leading to interesting ideas that can shake up older creatures and make them more relevant today.

An artist known as Magikapow came up with regional variants of Trubbish and its evolution Garbodor. While the Pokemon were originally based off of trash bags, Magikapow's are inspired by plastic shopping bags. Trubbish is an upside down bag with two handles and ears coming off of it, while Garbodor is a much larger bag with multiple handles and has blown out ears where fumes now shoot out of. The Pokemon are still Poison-Type, but were given the secondary Flying-Type by Magikapow, which could be a reference to plastic bags blowing in the wind.

The regional variants for Trubbish and Garbodor that Magikapow created have gained a number of fans. Many commenters have called the concepts cute, loving the take on waste and pollution that the creatures represent. Many users suggested making Trubbish and Garbodor Poison/Water-Type and giving the Levitate ability to the Pokemon. One gamer commented that Garbodor was their least favorite pocket monster but that they loved the new design Magikapow gave them. The new forms for the Poison-Types are creative and could be a good idea if they are a part of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Magikapow is not the only one coming up with their own regional variants. A Redditor going by the name xSilentWalrusx came up with new forms of the Normal-Type Pokemon Tauros, as well as an evolution for it. The design that the artist came up with would make Tauros a Rock/Ground-Type and would add rocks onto its body. This version of the pocket monster would then evolve into Steeros, which would change into a Steel/Ground-Type. It is an interesting idea for Tauros, which was one of the original 151 Pokemon and has been a part of the games since the beginning.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 18.
