Pokemon is feeling more realistic by the day. As Pokemon GO is played around the world and museums are using Pokemon fossils to teach paleontology, it seems as if Pokemon crosses closer into reality each day. And now, a big fan of the pocket monster role-playing game has created real-life fishing lures out of Pokemon, and the results are quite astounding.

Many fishers like to collect lures as a novelty, which is partly how swimbait lures specifically started. They tend to be large and lifelike, which can intimidate fish. However, bigger water-dwelling creatures such as bass can be attracted to them. Beyond the legitimate usage of the lures, the designs can be extremely detailed and beautiful, and that is the case with some recent Pokemon-based lures that have been shared online.

Reddit user u/Whiskey-Rose recently uploaded a Feebas swimbait lure on r/pokemon. The little lure is incredibly detailed, including Feebas's giant beady eyes and distinct coloring. Feebas evolves into Milotic in Pokemon, arguably one of the most majestic Pokemon in the games. Both Feebas and Milotic are from Generation 3.

The Feebas lure was just uploaded yesterday, and u/Whiskey-Rose claims that it is fully functional. This is likely true as this same Reddit user also uploaded two other lures a few months ago. While the most recent upload is a static image of Feebas, the Reddit post from four months ago is a video of a Gyarados lure in action, a fan-favorite Pokemon that was also featured in the most recent DLC trailer for New Pokemon Snap.

The footage shows just how impressive swimbait lures can be, but also how remarkable the work of u/Whiskey-Rose is. The Gyarados lure moves and contorts its body like an actual fish swimming in the water. In another post on r/Fishing, u/Whiskey-Rose showed a picture of Magikarp and Gyarados side by side. The measurements may be off a bit--as Gyarados is significantly larger than Magikarp--but the detail work is still impressive.

Pokemon has such a massive following. Thanks to the games, the anime, the trading cards, the merchandise, and more, Pokemon is one of the biggest names in entertainment; not just video games. Fans are often pleased to see such unique artistic creations inspired by the long-lasting entity. With Pokemon everywhere, and with even things like the Pokemon Wonder Japanese theme park on the way, Pokemon continues to permeate life in the real world.
