Does "Gotta Catch Em' All" apply to Funko Pops? For some Pokemon fans, it absolutely does! There are over sixty figures for fans to collect (and plenty of variations) which makes filling up a Funko Pokedex quite a challenge.

Like all other collectibles, some Pokemon figures are far rarer than others. Whether people have kept them in private collections to increase their value or they didn't sell well in their original run, some of these Funko Pops are incredibly hard to find today.

Updated March 3, 2023, by Rain Egan: It hasn't gotten easier to complete the Funkodex. With prices soaring to a massive $650 (approximately), the most expensive Pokemon Funko Pop to date, collecting is definitely only for hardcore collectors. A great resource for budding collectors is Funky Price Guide, which tracks and lists all the rarest Pokemon Funko Pops.

The market for Funko Pops changes all the time. New figures or re-releases of old ones can shift the prices dramatically. Because Pokemon is such a popular franchise, new figures are being released constantly, and the demand is huge. This update adds more information to each entry, re-ranks based on average price, and adds four new figures to the mix.

13 454 Bulbasaur (10-Inch)

Bulbasaur (10-Inch)

Out of all the extra-large Funko Pops exclusive to Target, the Bulbasaur didn't sell as much as many of the others. Unfortunately, some people just don't have the love for collecting this marvelous Plant type of starter, so it didn't move as quickly off of shelves. Strange, since Bulbasaur is one of the most popular Pokemon of all time!

This has made it more valuable today despite being a part of many people's collections. With collectors less willing to part with it, the scarcity has caused it to increase in value and made it harder to find. While it has the cheapest average price on this list, it's still quite rare.

12 580 Vulpix (Flocked) [SDCC]

Vulpix (Flocked) [SDCC]

Even though San Diego Comic-Con was virtual in 2020, there were still exclusive Funko Pops available for fans to purchase. Vulpix was among them and there was a limited number to purchase. Online con exclusives are generally easier to find on hobbyist websites due to the wider accessibility of online cons, but it's still one of the more difficult ones to find.

Those who didn't get their hands on this fuzzy flocked fiery, fox friend will have a harder time finding them now without paying a much higher price.

11 455 Charmander (10-Inch) [SDCC Debut]

Charmander (10-Inch) [SDCC Debut]

While a version of the super-sized Funko was later available as a Target exclusive, the version that premiered at San Diego Comic-Con is far more valuable. Gamers looking to get their hands on this jumbo Charmander will have to contend with whether exclusivity is important to them because the Target exclusive is available for significantly less.

To get the figure with the special sticker on the box, fans had to show up and purchase it at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. It's sold for over $100 on auction sites, so collectors might want to keep their hands on this one as its value increases.

10 581 Mewtwo (Flocked) [SDCC]

Mewtwo (Flocked) [SDCC]

The ultimate terror of the first generation, Mewtwo is massively popular among Pokemon fans. So when a flocked version was announced as an exclusive to the virtual version of San Diego Comic-Con in 2020 loads of people did all they could to get their hands on one.

While some got it hoping to see it increase in value, many fans simply got it for their love of Mewtwo and never intended to sell it. This has driven up its price on secondary markets and made it a bit harder for fans late to the party to get one for themselves.

9 851 Charizard

Another 10-inch Target exclusive, 10-inch Charizard is a fan favorite. Representing the beloved fire starter's final evolution, Charizard most recently made its debut in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet as a tera raid exclusive, following its starring role in Pokemon Sword & Shield as Champion Leon's ace Pokemon.

With all the support back at Game Freak, it's no wonder this Pokemon got a lot of love. Like most of the 10-inch variants, it's hard to find because of how popular it was, rather than how few were made.

8 455 Charmander (Flocked) [ECCC]

Charmander (Flocked) [ECCC]

Sorry Bulbasaur, fans just like Charmander a bit more. Flocked Charmander was also an exclusive Funko Pop that could only be bought during Emerald City Con 2020.

Due to their popularity, they sold a bit faster than others and fewer collectors are willing to part with them. There's a lot of love behind Charmander, perhaps the most out of all the Gen 1 starters. This has made them harder to acquire and caused the Funko to increase in value significantly.

7 453 Bulbasaur (Flocked) [ECCC]

Bulbasaur (Flocked) [ECCC]

Flocked Funko Pops tend to be more popular and rare, and Bulbasaur is no exception to the rule. The flocked version was exclusive to Emerald City Con 2020.

With it being a virtual event, the normal lines might have been circumvented for buying exclusive figures, but they still remain quite rare. As only a limited quantity was produced, the value of a flocked Bulbasaur varies quite a bit depending on the seller's knowledge of Pokemon collectibles.

6 540 Eevee (10 Inch)

This jumbo Eevee is a Target exclusive and is currently out of stock at most official retailers. The 10-inch edition of this beloved Gen 1 Pokemon isn't the most difficult to find, but its popularity among Pokemon fans makes it rather difficult to source. For hardcore fans, this Funko Pop is a must-have.

There are several other Eevee Funko Pops out there, including a standard-sized Eevee, as well as all of the Eeveelutions. The Leafeon Funko Pop is particularly prized, though not quite enough to make this list.

5 455 Charmander (Diamond Glitter) [ECCC]

Charmander (Diamond Glitter) [ECCC]

Talk about a shiny Pokemon! This diamond glitter version of one of the most popular starters of all time is sought after by collectors. While there was a version offered exclusively at Target, the version offered at Emerald City Comic Con is the one that is far rarer.

There are several versions of this Funko Pop available, so prospective buyers have to be very careful they don't spend money on the wrong figure. If the box doesn't have that signature green sticker, it's not the one people are hunting for.

4 01 Pikachu (18-Inch)

Pikachu (18-Inch)

This massive Funko of the Pokemon mascot was only released in a limited number of stores in 2020 including Pop In A Box and Entertainment Earth.

With the COVID-19 crisis taking place at the time, it made it so that even fewer potential buyers ever reached shops to even purchase the exclusive Pikachu, resulting in its current rarity. With just how popular the electric mouse is with fans, it's certain to skyrocket in value as time goes on.

3 627 Vaporeon (Diamond Glitter)

Vaporeon (Diamond Glitter)

This special sparkly Vaporeon is rare due to its limited availability and the fact that there are four special sticker variants to collect.

Those who wanted to collect this rare Funko would have needed to attend Emerald City Comic Con in 2021 where they could have collected it from either Barnes & Noble, the WePlay Store, Game Planet, or the special convention shop itself. The rarest of them all is the direct convention exclusive which is valued at around $200.

2 Blooming Curiosity

Blooming Curiosity

April showers bring May flowers or in this case, a Pokemon Center exclusive Funko Pop. Blooming Curiosity was part of the A Day With Pikachu collection and is currently the most expensive Pokemon Funko to buy on the secondary market.

With its limited-time exclusivity and the short availability to buy the figure, it makes sense that it has become such a rarity to collectors everywhere.

1 843 Charizard (Metallic) [Wondrous Convention]

The Funko Pop that never was - sort of. This Charizard sits leagues above its Pokemon peers because it was never officially released. Allegedly scheduled for release at WonderCon 2022, this metallic Charizard figure never made it to the public for reasons unknown, making it the rarest Pokemon Funko Pop ever made.

Despite this, several have emerged on hobbyist websites with valid and unique UPCs (Universal Product Codes). It's a metallic skin Charizard, similar to many Funko Pops before it. The current selling price averages at $650, and is barely listed anywhere. It begs the question - why wasn't this figure made public?
