While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are still months away from launch, players are already learning details about the game. A few days ago, a reveal trailer was released for the title that unveiled the new starters for Gen 9. Among the new Pokemon, players were introduced to Quaxly.

First seen in a painting in the trailer, Quaxly is a Water-type Pokemon expected to be part of Gen 9. As the name suggests, it shares a similar appearance to a duck as its design includes webbed feet and a bright yellow beak. However, its most striking feature is a tuft of blue feathers on top of its head. Recently, one talented artist made artwork to celebrate the announcement of this aquatic starter.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as petrylopes shared a picture of a group of Pokemon they had drawn. However, this artwork stood out because the artist had chosen to include several duck-like Pokemon in the design. In the image, Psyduck, Ducklett, Farfetch’d, and the new starter Quaxly were sailing on top of Ludicolo. Beyond merely drawing the Pokemon, petrylopes added several visual references to the seafaring nature of their voyage. For example, Ducklett wore an eyepatch like a pirate, while Psyduck had a spyglass taped to the top of its beak for comedic effect. In addition, the picture included a red banner with the name “THE QUACKS!” written on it.

While this picture featuring Quaxly is impressive, it is far from the only artwork created by petrylopes. For those interested in seeing more, the artist has posted several more Pokemon-themed pictures on Reddit. For example, they recently drew Fuecoco hanging out with several crocodile-like Pokemon.

Since posting this humorous artwork of Quaxly on Reddit, numerous members of the Pokemon community have taken notice. With over 5,200 upvotes in less than a day, many loved the concept of making artwork based on some of the duck-like Pokemon found in the series. Among the comments, fans liked the idea of having Ludicolo as the boat. In addition, many said that Quaxly was likely to be their starter when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are eventually released later this year. “Quaxly is probably gonna be my starter,” Proclaimed_Genius said on Reddit.

On top of this amusing artwork of the “Quacks Gang,” other gamers have been creating impressive fan art to celebrate the reveal of the new Water-type starter. For example, one gamer recently drew a picture that reimagined what Quaxly would look like as Johnny Bravo. It seems only a matter of time before even more creations based on these new starters are shared with the community.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are scheduled to release in late 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.
