One Pokemon fan created a massive, incredibly detailed statue of Pheromosa in Minecraft, replicating the pixel look of the Pokemon on a huge scale. Rather than waiting for Pheromosa to get the same Build-a-Bear treatment that Sylveon got, player DarthZekrom decided to put in the time and build their own tribute.

Pheromosa is an unusual Pokemon for many reasons. For starters, it's a legendary, but not just any legendary: it's one of the Ultra Beasts, a group of unusual looking and bizarre extraterrestrial Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon. It's one of the most regular looking out of all the Ultra Beasts, but still different from many other creatures from the Pokemon franchise.

Pheromosa is an insect type, but looks distinctly human. In fact, it looks more humanoid than a lot of other Pokemon, specifically like an elegantly dressed woman. Few enough Pokemon look humanoid, let alone clothed, that it stands out in a big way. This is one reason why Pheromosa has been the subject of more than one piece of fan art, of which Redditor DarthZekrom's Minecraft statue is only the latest. While some fan art unites Pokemon like Cyndaquil and Buneary, Pheromosa already looks distinct enough to carry its own image.

According to DarthZekrom, the work took less than a week, and the result is distinctive in how detailed it is, looking like a three-dimensional version of Pheromosa's pixel sprite. Seeing the work in open space draws attention to the stranger parts of the Pokemon's design, like its enormous antennae. The translucent material making up its hood is, oddly enough, somewhat inconsistent between mediums, as it is completely opaque in earlier images of the Pokemon, including in the TV show. Reimagining Pokemon as looking different, like showing the Nacli line as Paper Mario characters, is not uncommon for fan art of Pheromosa, though this is one of the less radical reimaginings.

It may be distinctly easier to make art of Pheromosa than the other Ultra Beasts if for no other reason than they have odd dimensions. Making them look as human as Pheromosa would require a more radical redesign, on the scale of the fan redesign of Torkoal.

Fan art continues to be one of the most imaginative parts of the Pokemon fanbase, from new looks to gorgeous animations. One need look no further than an animation of Smoliv and its line to know that every Pokemon has a fan somewhere.
